‘Breaking Bad’: Walter White’s ‘The One Who Knocks’ As Written By Famous Authors
Empress Eve   |

Breaking Bad Walter White I Am The One Who Knocks

One of the most memorable “speeches” that’s come out of AMC’s Breaking Bad is the one Walter White (Bryan Cranston) gives about being “The One Who Knocks.”

Now, McSweeney’s has posted what Walt’s speech would have been if it had been written by famous authors like Edgar Allan Poe, George R.R. Martin, J.K. Rowling, Dr. Seuss, and more.

I’ve listed a few from my favorite authors here below, along with a video of the scene from Breaking Bad (where Walt also says another popular quote, “I am the danger”).

Jane Austen

“I’m the person who gentle folk hear after dinner, what strikes fear in their drawing rooms,” our heroine overheard the balding gentleman in the dark hat and spectacles remark to his astonished wife. “Perhaps we should take to Bath this summer,” the wife replied, changing the subject.

Edgar Allan Poe

“And so I come, heartily rapping, not at all gently tapping, tapping, upon the chamber door. Tis I,” he blustered, “and no one more.”

George R.R. Martin

“I am the man who swings the sword on others,” said Ser Walder, of House White. “Valar morghūlis.”

Head over to McSweeney’s to read more versions.

George R. R. Martin wouldn’t have been able to write that speech as he would have killed Walt in Episode 2
