The GoD List Banner

Each and every week, I, “Too Much Candy” Henchman21, and “No Such Thing” Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible”¦ theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of our pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of November 6, 2013. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Well, it’s another week where there are enough good books that I can’t concentrate enough to focus on just a few of them, so it’s time to hit you with a whole stack of issues and trades. It’s possible that I can’t concentrate due to buckets of leftover Halloween candy. Anyway, there’s plenty out there this week and I’m not going to bore you with any more idle chat; it’s The GoD List time!

Quantum and Woody Volume 1

Quantum & Woody, Volume 1 (Valiant Entertainment – $9.99) First reason to pick this up is the price point of 10 bucks for the first four series of Valiant’s reboot of Quantum and Woody. Second reason to pick this up is the fantastic art by Tom Fowler and the hilarious writing of James Asmus. Third reason is that you can pick this up and jump into the regular series with issue 5, which is also out today.

Quantum & Woody #5 (Valiant Entertainment – $3.99) See above, but replace Tom Fowler with Lee Garbett (Batgirl) on art details. It’s a new story arc featuring the most mismatched brothers who just happen to be super-heroes. You may not be buying this, but you should be.

Hawkeye Hardcover, Volume 1 (Marvel Comics – $34.99) Collects the first 11 issues (plus Young Avengers Presents #6) of the book everyone seems to love. Buy this and then sell the issues for top dollar. Or vice versa.

Amazing X-Men #1 (Marvel Comics – $3.99) Because you and I keep buying X-Men comics. Nightcrawler’s back, baby! More mutant madness from Jason Aaron and artist Ed McGuinness so you know you want it.

Cataclysm: The Ultimates’ Last Stand #1 (Marvel Comics – $3.99) Is this the end of the Ultimate universe as many suspect? Could be. In the meantime, you get to see Brian Bendis and Mark Bagley team up again, and see the Ultimates take on Galactus. Good times will be had by all. Except for maybe the Ultimates.

Green Arrow #25 (DC Comics – $2.99) It’s year 3 of the New 52, and Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino kick it off with an oversized issue that ties into Batman: Year Zero. Perhaps it’s just because I’m enjoying the Arrow TV show so much, but Green Arrow is one of my favorite DC comics. I’ve enjoyed what Lemire has done with the character, even if I do miss the old version.

Jeff Smith’s Bone: The Great Cow Race Artist’s Edition (IDW Publishing – $100) If you’ve got the cash you need to buy this collection of one of the greatest comics books ever produced. Shot from the original art pages at full size, this is something that fans of the series will be thrilled to see. Each of IDW’s Artist’s Editions has collected the best of the best when it comes to comic art, and this is no exception. If someone is looking for a Christmas gift for me, look no further.

East of West #7 (Image Comics – $3.50) Still awesome.

Morning Glories #34 (Image Comics – $3.50) Also still awesome, if not a little confusing.

Alex + Ada (Image Comics – $2.99) From Jonathan Luna, half of the creative team behind Girls, The Sword, and Ultra, comes a new sci-fi story about a boy and his android. I know there are a lot of fans of Luna’s work, and it’s been a while since his last series. In this series, Alex unexpectedly gets an X5, the newest model android. The problem is, Alex doesn’t know what to do with Ada, his new android. What will he end up doing with her? It sounds like an interesting enough premise, so I’ll at least have to give this a shot.
