The Hobbit: Air New Zealand Video Shows Just Another Day In Middle-earth

With the next Hobbit film, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, on the way next month, the folks over at Air New Zealand put together an uplifting video showing “just another day in Middle-earth.”

Check out the video here below.

Filmmaker Peter Jackson shot The Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings trilogies in his native New Zealand and parts of the country have provided the vast landscape for J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle-Earth since 2001’s The Fellowship of the Ring. If you journey to New Zealand (a dream of mine!), you can actually see Hobbiton, which was reconstructed for The Hobbit movies, this time making permanent structures so that there will be a piece of Middle-earth there long after the film crew departs.

The Air New Zealand video reportedly stars actual actual employees of the airline, like flight attendants, pilots, aircraft engineers, and more, along with over 120 extras to show that “Middle-earth is only a sleep away with Air New Zealand.” The video also features actor Dean O’Gorman, who plays the dwarf Fili in The Hobbit movies, as himself, as well as the voice of Sylvester McCoy, who stars as the wizard Radagast the Brown in the new trilogy.

“Just Another Day In Middle-earth” is the follow-up to 2012’s An Unexpected Briefing, a Hobbit-inspired safety video the airline created when The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released. (Video is embedded here below.)

There’s also a contest going on right now, where Hobbit fans can enter to win 1 of 4 trips to either New Zealand or the Los Angeles premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug. See details here below:

Hobbit fans have the once-in-a-life-time opportunity to win a trip to the film premiere with stars like Evangeline Lilly, Martin Freeman, and Director Peter Jackson. Viewers from around the world can enter for their chance to win one of four trips of a lifetime to either Middle-earth or to the premiere in Los Angeles, including airfares, accommodation and rental car, by watching the video and visiting theflyingsocialnetwork.com/site/article/watch-our-new-hobbit-video-and-win.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey – Extended Edition is out now on Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, and DVD. (Be sure to check out our feature The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey: 10 Facts About The Film From The Extended Edition Blu-ray.) Its follow-up, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, hits theaters on December 13, 2013.
