Recently Sony released their PlayStation 3 successor, the PS4, and reported that it was doing very well, passing one million units sold in its first 24 hours on store shelves.
Now it’s Microsoft’s turn. The company reveals that despite all the issues they faced after first announcing their Xbox 360 successor, the Xbox One, they’ve also sold over a million units, hitting the mark in under 24 hours.
Microsoft was sure to go big out of the gate with Xbox One, releasing the console in 13 countries at launch. Comparatively, Sony first released the PS4 in North America, with release in other countries coming soon.
GameStop has also revealed that they have over two million customers on waiting lists for the two consoles, so don’t expect things to slow down anytime soon.
It’s expected that both the Xbox One and the PS4 will have around three million units sold by the end of the year, so we may just have a decent battle on our hands before a clear cut winner between the two is known.
