The most recent casting news for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. makes the series look like they don’t have too many cards left on the table. Jaimie Alexander will reprise her role as Lady Sif in an upcoming episode, Bill Paxton will play Agent John Garrett for a multi-episode arc, and Stan Lee will cameo on the show.
Now, Marvel confirms that Deathlok will appear on the show, and he will be played by someone who has appeared on the show. Plus, we learn why Lady Sif drops by for a visit.
J. August Richards, who plays the recurring character Mike Peterson, will become Deathlok. Those who have seen the show will understand how he obtained the moniker. When we first saw the character in the pilot episode, it was speculated that Richards would end up playing Luke Cage. Now that it has been confirmed that he will play Deathlok, we can’t be sure how the show will portray the character. For all we know it may not even look like the header image.
“We’ve been leaving breadcrumbs along the way,” Jeph Loeb said an interview with Deadline. “This is a major Marvel character appearing on TV, on film for the first time.”
As for Lorelei, she will be played by Elene Satine (Magic City). For those who don’t know, Lorelei is the younger sister of Amora the Enchantress – a character often associated with Loki and is a villainess of the Thor universe. According to Marvel, she has seductive powers that force males, both Asgardian and human, to do what she wants. Deadline viewed footage today at Agent Of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Television Critics Association TCA presentation of Lorelei and Lady Sif facing off.
Deathlok will debut on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014.
