Speedbumps are nothing new on the long road traveled by Ghostbusters 3. The planned trilogy-maker has met many obstacles and delays over the years, and, at the moment, is still here. Say what you will about the movie, but it is most certainly determined.
The latest speedbump comes in the form of Ivan Reitman, who directed the original Ghostbusters and its sequel and was attached to make the third installment. Reitman has decided to step down as director and let someone new take the wheel. He will, however, remain on the movie as a producer.
Last we heard, the script to Ghostbusters 3 written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnisky was being tweaked after the death of Harold Ramis.
The decision could end up being a blessing in disguise when it’s all said and done. If the right talent is brought in for the movie, a fresh perspective could be just what it needs to be the sequel we all hope it will be. More specifically, a hilarious supernatural comedy with some exciting new actors and a few familiar faces in smaller roles.
A new director is now actively being searched for, and the plan is still to begin production by early 2015.
Who do you want to see brought in to direct Ghostbusters 3?
