Much of the Guardians of the Galaxy promotions after Disney released the first trailer consisted of behind the scenes videos, clips, Q&As, promos, and many photos, so file this latest marketing push under the latter. But that isn’t the only bit of news. Disney CEO Bob Iger believes that Marvel Studios’ upcoming film is a viable franchise.
So hit the jump to see the photos, and read what Iger had to say.
Speaking at a shareholders meeting, Iger had nothing but positive things to say about Guardians of the Galaxy, and the potential franchise that it could become:
“This August 1st, we’re looking forward to introducing the world to more fantastic Marvel storytelling, with a great cast of new characters in Guardians of the Galaxy, which we screened last week and we believe it has strong franchise potential.”
“Franchise” being the key word in the statement above. Marvel Studios is known to lock in a few dates before announcing their titles, so if Guardians does well at the box office, expect one of those Marvel Mystery Movies to be a Guardians sequel.
On to the images below, director James Gunn recently tweeted out these two movie stills of Chris Pratt as Star Lord wearing a mask in one image, and holding two blasters in the other.
Also starring Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, featuring the voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, Guardians of the Galaxy opens in theaters on August 1.
