The after credits scene for X-Men: Days Of Future Past not only teased the sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse‘s, next villain, Apocalypse, but also four of his strongest warriors, aptly named the Horsemen of Apocalypse. With the initial film having rebooted the entire X-Men timeline, director Bryan Singer and writer Simon Kinberg have plenty of mutants of their choosing to add to the Horsemen roster. But who will they choose? Will they even be in the film at all?
Well Singer posted a teaser image of the first page of the treatment on Instagram. On it, it hints at the possibility that the Horsemen may actually be in the film. Hit the jump to see the image.
While there have been many incarnations of the bringers of the Apocalypse, none were more famous than the first, which consisted of Angel – who became Archangel – (Death), Plague (Pestilence), Abraham Kieros (War), and Autumn Rolfson (Famine). Of the four, we have only seen Angel in action, even if it was for a brief moment in X-Men: The Last Stand. But he is of great importance since he was one of the original members of the X-Men, in the comics. Future incarnations also had other members of the X-Men turned into Horsemen, and they include Wolverine and Gambit.
Now those two also are interesting prospects considering Kinberg wants Wolverine to have a bigger role in the franchise. We also know that Channing Tatumhas been cast as Gambit, although we can’t be sure if it will be for a solo film or for Apocalypse.
But if the film were to stay true to the source material, then having Angel turned into a Horsemen may be the best route to take.
