Ever since Ryan Reynolds briefly appeared as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, fans have been waiting for that one day where he would be given his own movie. Of course with Deadpool being the “Merc with the Mouth,” adapting him for the big screen would be one of the hardest things to do. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have already written a script, and Reynolds has even read it, and he has nothing but great things to say about it. Even Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg are exploring the idea of how to do a Deadpool movie properly without ruining the character’s reputation.
But now we have a look at what a Deadpool movie could look like if it does get greenlit. Test footage has recently surfaced showing Deadpool in action, killing mercs while mouthing off. Honestly, you should give it a look.
Yes, Deadpool is CGI, but apparently, the footage dates back to 2012. Even then, the test footage was meant to be more of a pitch to studio execs than something that would please the general audience. This test footage was aimed to give the execs an idea of the possibility of making Deadpool. As you will see below, it is silly, action-packed, edgy, and has the right amount of mouthing off.
We’ll just have to see if Fox is willing to give the go ahead to this film, because based on the way it looks, they should have already done so.
UPDATE: The footage has been officially released online in HD — click HERE for more details and to watch the footage in HD.
