Game Of Thrones Ned Stark Sean Bean

Sean Bean recently did a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) where he fielded questions from Redditors about Game Of Thrones, Lord Of The Rings, and National Treasure (which yielded a creepy Nicolas Cage anecdote), as well as how most of his characters end up getting killed off. The fan-favorite actor was promoting his upcoming TNT drama, Legends, which launched a #DontKillSeanBean marketing campaign during last month’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Some of the quick questions in the AMA were:

– A role he wished he had for longer? [Ned Stark!]
– Favorite comfort food [chocolate]
– Who would he take into battle, Robert Baratheon or Aragorn? [Robert Baratheon]

There’s lots of cool tidbits like this throughout, but let’s see what Bean — who says he’s actually been mistaken for Mr. Bean — has to say about all that walking into Mordor business in the Lord Of The Rings and why on Game Of Thrones does his bastard son Jon Snow know “nothing.”

On Jon Snow…

Why did you not teach Jon Snow anything?

HAHAHAHAH!
Because he’s not mine!
Little bastard!

Ooh, there he goes again saying that Ned Stark is NOT Jon Snow’s father! You know he doesn’t know the truth of Jon Snow’s paternity, but he has everyone in the AMA going crazy, buying into this popular fan theory that Jon Snow is not Ned Stark’s son.

Sean Bean

Frodo or Jon Snow?

Would you rather apologize to Frodo or actually have that conversation with Jon Snow?

I did apologize to Frodo, didn’t I? Or I told somebody to tell him I was sorry. And fuck Jon Snow.

An amusing question about getting cast in the new Star Wars trilogy just so he could die in it:

Do you plan to work your way into the new Star Wars trilogy so that you can die in the first installment?

That’s a terrible question! I want to stay alive, and thrive!

The question that just had to be asked:

How many times has a random stranger asked you to say “One does not simply … (insert line here)”?

Hahaha!
They’ve not, I’ve seen people with t-shirts on, and I’ve said it myself. Wait, I guess they have. A few too many drinks, and one says “one does not simply this” or “one does not simply that.” It’s a line I say in Lord of the Rings, innit? One does not simply walk into Mordor. It’s a great line because you can apply anything to it. It’s immortalized.

Lord Of The Rings One Does Not Simply Walk Into Mordor Sean Bean

On being confused with Mr. Bean:

Do you ever get mixed up with the other Mr. Bean?

I used to get his fan mail, actually! I think they had the wrong address. I have gotten a couple of letters meant for Mr. Bean aka Rowan Atkinson. These letters would say things like “You’re so funny, you make me laugh, with your big rubbery face” and I would say “you can’t mean me!” Whenever I call people up and they say “who’s calling” and I say “Mr. Bean” and you can hear people giggling on the other end of the phone… he’s got a lot to answer for, that Rowan Atkinson.

That Nic Cage story:

Do you have anecdotes about your time filming National Treasure?

There was one where I went back to Nic Cage’s house, and we’d had a few drinks, we were playing pool and he accidentally knocked over his prehistoric cave bear skull and smashed it. And he was really upset about it, and the next day went and buried it in a field.

And as the headline states, [SPOILER ALERT!] Bean survives to the end of the AMA!

Are you going to die at the end of this AMA?

No.

Sean Bean RIP character death years

Head over to Reddit to read the entire AMA – it’s definitely worth your time. Below is more information on Legends, which begins airing on TNT on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 9pm (ET/PT).

Screen Actors Guild Award® winner Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings) stars in Legends, TNT’s new, suspense-filled drama based on the award-winning book by master spy novelist Robert Littell. Bean plays Martin Odum, an undercover agent working for the FBI’s Deep Cover Operations (DCO) division. Martin has the uncanny ability to transform himself into a completely different person for each job. But he begins to question his own identity when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn’t the man he believes himself to be. Legends also stars Ali Larter (Heroes) as Crystal Quest, a fellow operative who has a history with Martin; Morris Chestnut (American Horror Story, Nurse Jackie) as Tony Cimarro, a smart, quick-witted and charming DCO agent; Tina Majorino (Grey’s Anatomy, True Blood) as Maggie Harris, the newest member of the DCO team; Steve Harris (The Practice, Awake) as Nelson Gates, the director of the DCO Task Force; and Amber Valletta (Revenge) as Sonya Odum, Martin’s ex-wife; and Mason Cook (The Lone Ranger) as Martin’s pre-teen son, Aiden. Legends is being produced by Fox 21, with Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24), Alexander Cary (Homeland, Lie to Me) and Jonathan Levin (Charmed) and Brad Turner (24) serving as executive producers, along with showrunner David Wilcox (Fringe). The Legends pilot was written by Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor), who developed the story with Mark Gordon (Criminal Minds) and Mark Bomback (The Wolverine). The pilot was directed by David Semel (American Horror Story).
