The first trailer for Syfy’s TV series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1995 sci-fi thriller 12 Monkeys has been released.
The show follows a man from a post-apocalyptic future who comes back on a mission to find the source of a deadly plague that will wipe out most of humanity and stop it from happening. It stars Zeljko Ivanek, Amanda Schull, Kirk Acevedo, Tom Noonan, Shannon Lucio, Emily Hampshire, Aaron Stanford, Noah Bean, Jodi Lyn Brockton, and Lyriq Bent.

SYNOPSIS:
12 Monkeys follows the journey of a time traveler, Cole, from the post-apocalyptic future. Using a dangerous and untested method of time travel, Cole arrives in the present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will eventually decimate 93.6% of the human race. Will Cole be able to save the fate of mankind or is mankind bound by fate? Taking place in the ravaged future of 2043 and the present day (2015), 12 Monkeys explores themes of destiny, fate, love and the possibility of second chances.
12 Monkeys will premiere on January 16th at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.

Wow… that looks like an appalling re-imagining of an instant-classic. I get that original ideas are non-existent in Hollywood and the end-of-the-world scenario is popular now, but really – did we need this?
