In the future, all TV shows will be based on comic books, and we took another step towards this future this week with the announcement that Global Frequency will get another shot at becoming a series with a pilot production commitment at Fox.

As first reported on by Deadline, producer Jerry Bruckheimer will be steering the project with the pilot being written by Rockne S. O’Bannon (Farscape, Defiance).

Global Frequency is based on the 2002-2004 DC/Wildstorm (now reprinted under DC’s Vertigo imprint) comic series written by Warren Ellis with art by a host of artists. The series deals with the mysterious Miranda Zero and her multination crisis-solving group the Global Frequency. Each issue of the series dealt with a crisis that can only be resolved by Miranda Zero calling in experts in any number of fields through her network known as the Global Frequency. Zero was assisted in her cause by Aleph, who acted as the central dispatcher for the Frequency.

With the original comic series being set up in a format similar to a television series, it makes sense for Fox to take a chance on Global Frequency. This will not be the first time Global Frequency has had a pilot episode, with The WB having filmed one back in 2005 starring Michelle Forbes.

Global Frequency joins Supergirl and Lucifer as DC and or Vertigo comics currently in development for the 2015 television season, and will be part of the ever-growing host of comic books already on the air. Global Frequency is ready-made for television and should make for a fun action/adventure series. Here’s hoping it finally makes its way to a full series commitment.

Would you find time to fit Global Frequency into an already comic book-packed television schedule?
