Spoiler Alert! Here is a brief recap of Gotham 1.10 “Lovecraft”!

November’s mid-season finale had Gotham fans excited at the potential possibilities, as Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) got reassigned to the Arkham Asylum, for basically not kissing the mayor’s ass a la Harvey Dent (Nicholas D’Agosto), in repentance of the whole Lovecraft mess. Selina (Camren Bicondova) had been hiding out at Wayne Manor, bonding with Bruce (David Mazouz), when an assassin comes after them and they are forced to flee into her world (Poison Ivy cameo alert!). Fans were surprised and delighted as Alfred (Sean Pertwee) kicked ass in this episode.

Gotham 1.12 “Rogue’s Gallery” review:

As expected, Gotham returns with deliciousness, literally, as fanboy favorite Morena Baccarin (Firefly, Homeland) joins this already dreamy cast as Dr. Tompkins, who helps Jim try to figure out the latest mystery in Arkham Asylum. Someone is experimenting on the inmates. Is it staff? Another patient? The director wants to keep it quiet, putting Jim down in the process.

The lighting and scenery are as dreary and crazy as you’d expect, yet somehow lets bits of humor in (cue Jim interrogating the patients). Bullock (Donal Logue) is delighted to be called in. He clearly misses Jim, as his hug, enthusiasm, and words attest. Butch has torn loyalties and Selina helps out Ivy, who reveals more of her sinister side. Barbara’s darkness and Penguin’s hubris are showing (Erin Richards and Robin Lord Taylor, respectively) in “Rogue’s Gallery.” This episode is a satisfactory return to this dark, pre-superhero world, which has no shortage of ordinary heroes.
