NBC recently announced that it would be moving the premiere of Season 3 of Hannibal to the Summer, instead of this Spring.
But although we have a long wait before the debut of the new season of Bryan Fuller‘s psychological drama, the network has just released a teaser trailer for Season 3, via EW. Watch it here below.
This first footage shows Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) on the hunt for his old frienemy Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) in what looks to be Florence, Italy. Some exterior shots for this season were filmed in Florence; also, the first episode is titled “Antipasto.”
The season will reportedly contain elements from Thomas Harris’ Hannibal novels, including Hannibal Rising and Red Dragon, and see the addition of The Hobbit star Richard Armitage to the cast for a 6-episode arc as Francis Dolarhyde aka the serial killer The Tooth Fairy. (Armitage debuts in Episode 8 of the 13-episode season.) Gillian Anderson‘s reoccurring guest star spot has been bumped up to series regular, while Joe Anderson (The Divide) will replace Michael Pitt as Mason Verger (the psycho with the prized pigs).
Season 1 and Season 2, both 13 episodes each, are available now on home video. Filming for Season 3 began on October 20, 2014, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
