A bizarre story out of Iowa yesterday (Wednesday, March 11, 2015). It seems that Slipknot guitarist Mick Thompson (aka #7) was stabbed in the back of the head during a drunken altercation at his home. Stranger yet, the assailant was Thompson’s own brother, Andrew Thompson!
According to the Des Moines Register:
Clive, Iowa, police reported that Thomson and his brother Andrew were fighting and armed with knives in a skirmish that spilled over onto the front yard of a home on Northwest 129th Street at 4:25AM. When officers arrived, they found the brothers believed to be intoxicated with serious but non-life threatening stab wounds. The guitarist was reportedly stabbed in the back of his head.
Both Thompson brothers were transported to local hospitals with injuries that were said to be “serious, but not life threatening.” According to the authorities, neither is being particularly cooperative with the ongoing investigation.
Slipknot singer Corey Taylor took to Twitter to update fans with the following post: Mick Update: from what I’ve heard he’s okay. We’re sending him all your thoughts. Thank you for that.

Slipknot is currently touring the world in support of their critically acclaimed fifth album .5: The Gray Chapter. Slipknot’s management issued a statement late yesterday to inform the public that the incident will not cause any interruptions in the band’s tour schedule.
We’ll keep you updated as details emerge. In the meantime, check out the live performance video of Slipknot’s latest single “Custer” and contemplate the irony of the song’s chorus:
