Jungle Girl, Season 3 #1 is the first chapter in the latest miniseries of Jana, the Jungle Girl. Stranded in a mysterious jungle world filled with crazy awesome tribes of natives, dinosaurs, and other mysterious and fantastic dangers, Jana tries to find a way to make sense of everything, but mostly she’s looking for a way to stay alive!

With a plot by Frank Cho and Doug Murray with a script by Murray, this is some high octane action and adventure set in a pretty awesome part of the world. Right off the bat we’re reminded of what has happened in the previous installments of Jungle Girl, but then we move immediately to some pretty heavy action that never lets up until the last page. You might think this is just a female version of Tarzan, but anything could be farther from the truth. Cho and Murray have given Jana traits that make her more than just a “gorgeous woman trapped in a jungle wearing only a bikini.” She’s an identifiable person with her own unique reactions to all that’s going on around her.

Wow. How do you follow Frank Cho? I’m not sure, but artist Jack Jadson does a really great job. He’s got a style similar to Cho’s, but he’s got his own special talents that shine through on the page. If you’ve read any of my reviews, you know that the thing that bugs me the most artistically, is when an artist skimps on backgrounds. Thankfully that’s not a problem here. Jadson makes the jungle a separate character all its own, one that plays a very important part. His dinosaurs look amazing, his page layouts are incredible and full of action, and he does have a special girl from drawing beautiful women.

If you’re new to Jungle Girl, this is the perfect jumping-on point. There’s action, adventure, and mystery all set in this unique, fantastic world. I highly recommend this comics, I really enjoyed it and I think you will too!
