The Good Dinosaur

The first trailer for The Good Dinosaur gave us a small tease of what’s to come from Pixar’s latest, revealing only a tiny portion of the plot and lacking any dialogue. Though it did give us a look at the gorgeous North American-inspired landscape the animators created just for the film.

Now Disney has released a full theatrical trailer for the film, which reveals a more detailed plot, and the relationship between Arlo, the dino-sized protagonist of the film, and his friend, Spot, a tiny fearless human boy. Check the trailer and a newly released image out below.

Taking place in the prehistoric era, the film asks the question “what if the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs missed earth?” The Good Dinosaur will answer that question. After a disastrous event separates Arlo from his family, the young dinosaur sets off on a journey to be reunited, and befriends an unlikely ally, a human, along the way.

Despite all the production troubles that have hampered the film, The Good Dinosaur looks like another solid hit for Pixar. Again, there is a huge lack of dialogue in the trailer, which makes me wonder if they should have taken the Wall-E approach with the film.

The Good Dinosaur may look like just another dinosaur buddy film – especially since it has to follow up the very emotional Inside Out – but Pixar looks like they really have something special. There is an incredible amount of detail that went into creating the environment for the film. It almost looks too life-like. The combination of the visuals and Of Monsters and Men’s new song “Crystalize” hit a few emotional soft spots, but then again, what Pixar film doesn’t get you teary-eyed.

Featuring the voice talents of Raymond Ochoa, Jeffrey Wright, Steve Zahn, AJ Buckley, Anna Paquin, Sam Elliott, Frances McDormand, Marcus Scribner, and Jack Bright, The Good Dinosaur opens in theaters on November 25. It is directed by Peter Sohn, and produced by Denise Ream (Cars 2).

“The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo (voice of Raymond Ochoa) makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of.
