I know, I know—that title is a bit clickbaity. But it is an honest question. A few weeks back, Fox News did a segment about Star Wars and the long-awaited next chapter of the franchise, The Force Awakens. But instead of talk about the movie itself or how excited they might be like everyone else, they decided to take some shots at it, the franchise, and its fans because…well, because they’re Fox News and they just love attention, positive or negative. They can troll with the best of them.
It’s a painful video to watch, reminiscent of the popular kids in high school who ruled over all and looked down from their thrones at the peasant geeks. So of course I couldn’t help but wonder, how long can you watch it before clicking that x? You can give it a go below. No one would blame you for punching out early.
As someone in comments of this Reddit thread reminded, this is all likely due to the fact that Fox isn’t in on the action. 20th Century Fox distributed all six of the previous movies—Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith—but now Disney owns the property. Something that this host fella briefly hints at in the beginning of the video.
For the 99% of us who are excited to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the movie will finally be released in theaters on December 18th. And mountains of coin will rain down upon it, despite Fox’s evil efforts to ruin everyone’s buzz.
So…don’t leave us hanging, folks. How far into to the video were you able to make it? Did you hold your breath and power through that bout of nausea to make it to the end, or did you hit the eject button only a minute or two in?
