London Has Fallen header

Okay, so another trailer for another sequel to another generic action movie has come out. The first full trailer for London Has Fallen starring Gerard Butler as the secret service agent Mike Banning who saved the US President (Aaron Eckhart) in Olympus Has Fallen has gone online. While the first film received mixed to negative reviews, it was still enough of a success to warrant a sequel. It even beat out its summer tentpole competitor White House Down that same year.

So what happens in the sequel. Well now all the world’s leaders are gathering together for a major summit, and of course terrorists take the opportunity to strike by killing all but the President of the United States, where it is up to Mike Banning once again to protect him at all costs. Check out the trailer after the jump.

The trailer is action porn at its finest. Full of explosions, gunfire, car pursuits, impossible leaps, and let’s not forget those slow head turns. It’s pretty much a by-the-book trailer for any action movie of this kind. I wasn’t really impressed with the first film, but I liked it enough. Since it was already a huge success at the box office, of course there was going to be a sequel, even more so when White House Down failed to live up to expectations or just suffered because Olympus Has Fallen was released earlier that year. Whatever the case may be, we at this point.

So can Mike Banning save the day, or will he be forced to take out the President so that the terrorists don’t kill him as a form of propaganda? We’ll just have to wait and see as London Has Fallen hits theaters on March 4, 2016.

The film also stars Morgan Freeman, Alon Moni Aboutboul, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Jackie Earle Haley, Melissa Leo, Radha Mitchell, Sean O’Bryan, Charlotte Riley, and Waleed Zuaiter. It is directed by Babak Najafi.

The sequel to the worldwide smash hit “Olympus Has Fallen,” a non-stop, suspenseful action thriller that delivers high-octane excitement through a heightened sense of authenticity. The visceral intensity springs from a timely premise: after the British Prime Minister passes away, his funeral becomes a target of a terrorist organization to destroy some of the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The only hope of stopping it rests on the shoulders of the President of the United States (Aaron Eckhart) and his formidable Secret Service head (Gerard Butler), and an English MI-6 agent (Charlotte Riley) who rightly trusts no one. Morgan Freeman also stars as the Vice President of the United States.
