Honest Trailers Star Wars

Oh… Hell… Yeah! With The Force Awakens on the horizon, the original classic, Star Wars, gets the Honest Trailers treatment. You just know what you’re going to get here: Lucas criticisms, the special editions, the prequels… let’s tear them up. “The Film that transformed the entire film industry… into an assembly line for special effects blockbusters and action figures… and we are not calling it, A NEW HOPE.”

Check out the Honest Trailer below.

In short, the film is iconic enough that everything on screen has a 1,000 word minimum Wikipedia entry. We meet the heroes and are reminded that there are only 2 actual humanoid females in the whole movie (Leia and Aunt Beru), Obi Wan can’t remember the droid that saved his life a dozen times before, and Luke… was a whiny little… well you know. Narrator Jon Bailey blows his own mind with a blend of Luke dialogue, with Hayden Christensen’s Anakin dreck in the prequels… they do sound eerily alike.

Meet the most threatening villain ever, Darth Vader… until you here the original non James Earl Jones dub version, where he sounds like a grouchy British grandfather. We remember the greatness that was George Lucas, working in collaboration with others, instead of using computer tricks to fill up every piece of screen all the time, with horribly unnecessary CGI monsters. The best part is when Bailey goes into all the little things we tend to forget about thanks to our Star Wars goggles, like: Satan sitting at the Cantina on Mos Eisley, and the lightsaber duel between Vader and Obi Wan, which is really lame, I said it. And holy crap! I never realized that every line during the Death Star finale was Freudian innuendos (in your endo)… cue Steve Carrell from The Office. “That’s what she said!” And just remember, no matter what you say about anything else in any of the movies, one thing cannot ever be in dispute: HAN SHOT FIRST!

Starring… Skywalker’s in Flight, Star Ford, Porkins (Aw that’s just mean), An Oscar and a Trashcan, and NAZIS… IN… SPACE… Joseph Campbell’s Star Wars.

Screen Junkies have just under 5 million subscribers on YouTube and release a new Honest Trailer every Tuesday. They just debuted Screen Junkies Plus, featuring all new programming from the SJ regulars with more Honest Trailer Commentaries, Movie and TV Fights, and the newest addition, What’s In The Box, starring Jay and Silent Bob themselves (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith) as they open new toy boxes that I’m sure can be found at Smith’s Jersey store, Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash. Bailey concludes by reading Star Wars quotes in his EPIC voice.
