Cinemax has set a premiere date for their upcoming original series Quarry. The show follows a man who returns home from the Vietnam War in the early ’70s to a less than warm reception, leading to his getting involved in a dark and violent world.
The network has announced that the series will debut Friday night, September 9th, at 10PM EST. In addition to the premiere date announcement, a short new preview video has also been released. You can check that out along with a second longer previously released preview video below.
Here’s a better description of the show and who’s starring:
QUARRY tells the story of Mac Conway, a Marine who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972 and finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public. As he struggles to cope with his experiences at war, Conway is drawn into a network of killing and corruption that spans the length of the Mississippi River.
Logan Marshall-Green (“Prometheus”) stars as Conway. Also starring are Jodi Balfour (“Final Destination 5″) as Joni, Peter Mullan (HBO’s “Olive Kitteridge”) as The Broker, Nikki Amuka-Bird (“Luther”) as Ruth, and Damon Herriman (“Justified”) as Buddy, along with Jamie Hector (HBO’s “The Wire”) as Arthur, Edoardo Ballerini (“Romeo Must Die”) as Karl, and Skipp Sudduth (“Ronin”) as Lloyd.
The show comes from Rectify writers Graham Gordy and Michael D. Fuller, who created, write, and produce. Emmy Award winning TV director Greg Yaitanes, who has directed episodes of Prison Break, Heroes, LOST, House, Ray Donovan, Banshee, and much more, directed the entire eight-episode first season.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, True Detective, The Revenant, Mr. Robot, and Spotlight (for which he won an Academy Award) producer Steve Golin also executive produces along with Matt DeRoss, David Kanter, Max Allan Collins, and Ken Levin.
