Production on Zack Snyder‘s Justice League has ended, and now we can look forward to another exciting year of trailers, clips, and images of characters from the DCEU. The first trailer for the film gave us a look at the roster of heroes who unite to form the titular team, and it will probably be a bit longer before we see anything of any substance. While Warner Bros. has been doing an excellent job keeping any wayward photographers from leaking huge spoilers online, Snyder and the cast have graciously posted little Easter Eggs as their part to help the marketing campaign.
Now we are getting our first look at Amber Heard as Mera, the wife of Aquaman and queen to Atlantis. Check out the photos below.
IGN was the first to post the image of Heard as well as concept art that helped inspire the character’s look. As you can see the costume has dark scaley greens, which is fitting as she resides in the ocean. The gold crown she is sporting certainly gives her a powerful look. Other than that, it is hard to tell what kind of role she will have in the film. Rumor is that the villain, Steppenwolf, has come to earth to reclaim the three motherboxes that were left in the hands of the Humans, Atlantians, and Amazons.
Michael Wilkinson‘s concept art helped inspire Heard’s look. Of course, things can change as she may even get a more bad ass suit later on in the movie. While Mera will play a supporting role in the film, the character is expected to have a more prominent role in Aquaman.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes””Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash””it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Ezra Miller, Gal Gadot, Willem Dafoe, and J.K. Simmons, Justice League opens in theaters on November 10, 2017.
