Thor: Ragnarok concept art 04

As with every home entertainment release for a major Marvel Studios’ film, bonus features will include a small preview of upcoming films. No, there won’t be any new footage; instead, we’ll be seeing concept art that gives us an idea of what to expect.

That is no different in Doctor Strange, whose bonus features include sneak peek concept art from Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther. Check out the images below.

All pieces of concept art comes to us from ComicBook.com, who pulled them from the special features of Doctor Strange.

We’ll just start with Thor: Ragnarok, since that film comes out first. We’ve known for a long time that the film will have elements of Planet Hulk, although we’ve only seen that through concept art during Comic-Con. Now we’re seeing what the arena and a gladiator Hulk with a giant axe and sword battling the god of thunder will look like. Interestingly enough, it looks like a small portion of the film will take place on Earth as we see an image of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) engaged in a fight with Hela (Cate Blanchett) in a city alley.

Now that is not to say that this will actually happen. Concept art just gives an idea of the characters or setting, so this is merely just setting the tone. If anything we should expect to see at least some footage of the film by the release of Guardians of the Galaxy.

As for Black Panther, the film mixes in the nobility of a kingdom with the highly technological sleekness of a modern day metropolis. We heard a small reference about the city during Avengers: Age of Ultron and a tiny glimpse of large panther totem at the end credits tag for Captain America: Civil War. But the film will acknowledge its history while mixing its advances in technology. Based on these images, these set pieces will be really exciting to see on the big screen.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Thor: Ragnarok:

Thor (Hemsworth) is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela (Blanchett). But first he must survive a deadly gladatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – The Incredible Hulk!”

Taika Waititi directs. It also stars Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, and Karl Urban. The film opens in theaters on November 3, 2017.

And here’s the official plot synopsis Black Panther:

Black Panther follows T’Challa, who, after the events of Captain America: Civil War, returns home to the isolated, technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, and Martin Freeman. The film opens in theaters on February 16, 2018.
