Last week on Arrow, the second amendment was front and center, as Mayor Queen’s office was the target of a shooter. The culprit, was a man who lost his entire family to gun violence and was angry that the city did not pass a gun measure. Oliver (Stephen Amell) was able to talk the guy down from doing more harm, and then get a bipartisan measure passed in one episode. Oliver Queen for mayor of NYC!

Spoilers below.

Arrow 5.14 “The Sin-Eater” review: Oliver and Diggle (David Ramsey) visit Amanda Westfield, mom of Prometheus. She won’t give Oliver a name because he will lock her son up, and kicks him out. She’s protecting him.

Curtis (Echo Kellum): “Wow. My mom could barely handle me being gay.”

In the past, Oliver notices that a shifty character outside Anatoly’s hospital bed, and drags the sick man out of it. They get trapped and Oliver sacrifices himself for Anatoly, and then almost takes out everyone to survive.

Oliver’s girlfriend asks if he is the Green Arrow, and he says yes then no – “joking.” Come on Oliver. Everyone knows you don’t joke. She kinda looks like Laurel. He tells Thea (Willa Holland), who then goes to Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and they realize that she knows everything. Felicity hacks and Thea destroys her.

China White, Cupid, and Liza Warner (Kelly Hu, Amy Gumenick, Rutina Wesley) escape from jail and hijack their own bus. Lance (Paul Blackthorne) wants in on the capture of the 3 ladies. He feels responsible for Warner. China White killed Triad people. On camera, White said, “Where is the depository?” The depository is the 100 million dollars Tobias Church left behind. Quentin and Oliver confront them and surprisingly, don’t die. Warner is mad about Lance’s affiliation with Darhk. The cavalry arrives to arrest Oliver, but he escapes. However, Prometheus stopped the Green Arrow in his tracks. Oliver is not going to take out the girls.

Mayor Queen tells Captain Pike (Adrian Holmes) everything about Malone and Prometheus and The Green Arrow (well… almost everything). He has to think on it.

The final episode confrontation is in a cemetery. The money is in a mausoleum. The girls grab it and the fight is on. Just when they think they have it controlled, the ladies have their loyal followers attack. The fight continues and the cops come, but ignore the Green Arrow this time. Decision made.

Oliver talks to Thea, and says she reminds him of mom. He’s worried.

Breaking news: The Mayor’s office may have covered up the death of Detective Billy Malone. Impeachment looms.

Solid episode. I had read that the ratings were down on this one, and I really looked for a reason as to why, but there was not any. It brought back some fun familiar faces (and Lance got real action), it got rid of Susan Williams (bitch!), gave us positive movement in the Malone case, and ended on a great cliffhanger.

I even liked the awkward attempt at Oliver making a joke (not joking).

Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8:00pm on The CW.
