The Girl Who Kept Night In Her Closet

Hey, folks! It has been a little while since I last posted a Kickstarter Spotlight but I ran across this one completely by accident and loved it! It has only a few weeks left so I figured there is no time like the present. The Girl Who Kept Night In Her Closet is a book about a little girl with enormous power or at least an equally gigantic imagination. It’s up to you to decide exactly where reality exists and fantasy begins. But that is definitely part of the joys of childhood, right?

Continue below for more on the story and campaign, and to watch the Kickstarter video presentation.

The story is merely another day for our little Lala. She communes with nature on a level that borders on the divine. Seeking out new friends and knowledge, as all little ones are apt to do. I won’t dive too far in, but suffice to say that there is a moral underneath it all. I loved the darkness of the tale that was directly coupled with a feeling of serenity. Had I any little ones, this would be an amazing bedtime story. Relaxing, soothing, and certainly entertaining.

Author Bart King and illustrator Jacob Wenzka are just a couple dads from Georgia who love to create. Your pledges will not only secure you a copy of this wondrous book but also help send a few to local schools and libraries. I, personally, cannot even begin to express how much that makes me happy. As a former Waldenbooks manager and bookseller at other indie bookstores, grassroots efforts are the life that keeps local libraries going. Talk about a worthy endeavor! I must note that the illustrator is also a former Borders employee which I found kind of awesome.

As always, the rewards are what drive the pledges. This one is as straightforward as it gets. Ten dollars gets you the digital version of the book. Twenty bucks and it is yours in physical AND digital form; additional copies can be added for fifteen extra each. Double that and you can have this book and the first book, Juniper Gets Wet, delivered in hardcopy and digital versions. If that is not your bag, then that same forty smackers gets you this newest hardbound book, the digital copy, and an art print! The rewards just keep on coming after that with various book and art combinations that vary based on art print sizes and pledge levels.

After you watch the video presentation below and then make sure to check out the official Kickstarter page here. Do not wait, check it out today! This campaign ends on the evening of August 27, 2017! Remember, later never comes.
