I love playing Scene It?, the popular board/pop culture question game. Why do I love it, you ask? Because, depending on the subject matter of the particular edition played at the time, I DOMINATE! Put in The Simpsons or the Seinfeld editions and I will own your ass and send you crying home to mommy. Which is why I’m so excited that Screenlife, creators of the Scene It? games have announced that they will at long last be producing a Star Wars edition of the game, and yet another edition in which I will dominate.

This new edition will see release sometime in the Fall of 2012. [...]

Each and every week “I’m on a Boat” MK2Fac3 and “Like a Boss” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of January 11, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Ahoy, there mateys. Are you ready, kids? I can’t hear you. Okay, now I can here you. This week, Captain MK2Fac3 is too busy skippering the USS Rough Service, but he sent me a message in a bottle with his picks for the week. Meanwhile, I’m stuck on a deserted island, and I have figured out why the Professor had such a problem fixing the boat when the only materials at hand were coconuts, palm fronds, and a collection of hicks, bimbos, non-functional alcoholics, and a crew that got their license from the Nebraska School of Oceanography. I was going to send this week’s list in by Aldis lamp, but it turns out blinking lights do not translate well to the internet and my lawyers told me there was a risk of seizures, so I strapped myself to a couple of sea turtles and found my way back to the mainland. Anyway, enough talk of that cruel mistress of the sea; let’s get to the books [...]

Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast announced on Monday that they are hard at work on a new edition of the venerable Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. This will be the fifth major edition of the game since it was originally released in 1974 and comes only four years after the release of the fourth edition rule set.

The news was first broke in the New York Times with a follow up announcement coming directly from Wizards of the Coast later in the day. Part of what makes the announcement so exciting (or maybe frightening) is that Wizards will be calling on fans to help with the playtesting of the new edition and will be taking player suggestions into account when creating the new system [...]

I know a lot of people who are fans of Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, and it seems to be one of the network’s most popular shows these days, but for whatever reason I never really gave it a shot. There was just something about the style of the show that kept me away for whatever reason. However, when the chance came to review the first DVD release of the show I took a shot, even only to see if the people recommending it to me were full of it. Having watched some of it now, I can understand why some people like it; I just don’t know if I’m as sold on it as they are [...]

Every year, at this most joyous of seasons, we are blessed with a new take on a holiday classic, courtesy of our good friends at the Venture Bros.. In years' past we’ve been treated to the cast of the Venture Bros. taking on “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy,” “Fairytale of New York,” and others, all in hilarious fashion.

It has been a bad couple of days if you are a low-selling Marvel comic, as the company put the axe to a couple of series, while two others were brought to their planned conclusion. Word came down Tuesday that Marvel was canceling X-23, the story of the young, female clone of Wolverine, as written by Marjorie Liu. That same day, word came down that Jason Aaron's PunisherMax would be coming to an end, with the rumor originally being that the series was canceled with issue #22. However, Aaron revealed via Twitter that the series was coming to the ending he had planned for the book, and that it was just coming to an end, not actually canceled [...]

Have you ever wanted to be a Star Trek Redshirt before? You know these guys. They are the nameless mass of officers on Star Trek who get blasted off to far flung alien planets, get blasted to smithereens on those far flung alien planets, and occasionally get the pleasure of the Captain’s exotic sloppy seconds. When you see an officer in a red shirt, you know he won't be around for long. Who hasn’t had this dream of being a Redshirt? Well, if you’re a comic book loving fan who has had the dream of being one of the many nameless victims in James T. Almost every popular TV or movie (especially those based on comics or sci-fi properties) gets one of these. I’m sure you’ve seen these before. They’re usually filled with interviews, pictures, and inside information about the production of whatever property the book is talking about. This one is no different, and will be a book worth buying if you really like The Walking Dead, but won’t be of much interest to non-fans [...]

Brian Azzarello. Eduardo Risso. These are two comic creators whose names create instant excitement when attached to a new project, especially when they are on the same book, as they are with their new series from DC/Vertigo, which launches this week with Spaceman #1. Azzarello and Risso are the team that brought us a landmark run with their series 100 Bullets. They were also the team for possibly the best thing to come out of DC’s Flashpoint event, with their Batman: Knight of Vengeance mini-series. So, when they start a new project, it’s easy to get me and many other comics fans excited. It’s a good thing then that Spaceman is very good, because you do not want to see a bunch of fanboys get pissed off when things don’t live up to their expectations [...]

New York Comic-Con 2011 saw the premiere of the first episode of the all-new Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Geeks of Doom was there to watch it. The show will launch on November 11th on Cartoon Network with the one-hour episode that was shown. The animated series will then take a bit of a break before returning to Cartoon Network in the spring as part of the DC Nation block of programming.

The series is produced by animation legend Bruce Timm, but according to Timm, is not a part of the unofficial “Timm-verse” which includes shows such as Batman: The Animated Series, Superman, and Justice League. During the panel, Timm remarked that some fans had attempted to link the universes together, but he wasn’t really buying it [...]

We will have a full run down of the first episode later, but first we will show you the first scene, which DC/Warner Bros has released to the public.

This is just a taste of the series, but I can tell you that the rest of the episode followed in both art style and in the brutality of the action [...]

IDW Publishing has announced that they will be releasing Road Rage, a new comic featuring a team-up of the father/son team of Stephen King and Joe Hill. Joining them on the book will be sci-fi legend Richard Matheson (I Am Legend). The series will be four issues long, with two issues (subtitled Throttle) written by King and Hill, and the second two (subtitled Duel) written by Matheson. Art for the Throttle part of the series will be done by Nelson Daniel, who has been handling colors for IDW’s The Cape (among other books) and steps up to pencils for this book. The artist for Duel will be Rafa Garres. The whole series is co-written and coordinated by IDW Chief Creative Officer and Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall. The first two issues will feature incentive covers by Tony Harris. The series will launch in February [...]

IDW Publishing will be bringing back their Infestation series, with the aptly named Infestation 2. The first Infestation dealt with a zombie invasion attacking some of IDW’s most popular licensed properties such as GI Joe, Transformers, Ghostbusters, and Star Trek. This time around, it’s not zombies, it’s Lovecraftian “Old Ones” gods attacking from across time and space [...]

Totally Rad Show, Diggnation, and former Screen Savers host Alex Albrecht is a man of many talents, director of films among them.

Today, he dropped a short film on YouTube titled Voltron: The End. The short features an older Lance (played by Timothy Omundson, who plays Detective Lassiter on the USA series Psych), pilot of the Red Lion, recovering from an accident. It is short, but sweet and a total treat for Voltron fans.
