The Yuuzhan Vong are coming! That is everyone’s fear in Star Wars: Invasion-Revelations #3.

Imagine Nina’s surprise when she realizes that not only is her mother a Yuuzhin Vong, but so is she. I want to say upfront that I have not read the other books in the Kato Origins line. Normally this isn’t that big of a hindrance when reading a single issue. There is normally a brief recap, and then plenty of information to keep you in the know. This isn’t necessarily the case, and I’ll get to why that is in a moment [...]

Written by Matt Wagner
Art by Esteve Polls

Release date: August 31, 2011
Cover Price: $3.99

I’ve always found Zorro interesting, although I sometimes confuse him with the Lone Ranger. (Even though the Ranger has a sidekick and Zorro doesn’t, figure that out.) Zorro Rides Again is the kind of comic book that shows why comic books get to keep the word book in their name. This book takes place in a Spanish colony, where corruption runs rampant, and the weak need to be defended, by none other than Zorro! [...]

One of my favorite time periods in the Star Wars universe is the Old Republic. The original game for Xbox is one of my all time favorites. It is with this background that I dove into Star Wars: The Old Republic #4.

This issue follows two Jedi spies who are on an Imperial ship. Here we learn what is making it possible for the Empire to build their power weapons and ships so quickly, the Sun Razer. The Sun Razer harvests the energy of the Sun and allows the Empire to use the energy. One of the Jedi ends up having worked on the slave planet that built the prototype, and he is dealing with the guilt of not stopping the Sun Razer from being built [...]

See The New Spidey In His First Solo Story In ‘Ultimate Spider-Man #1′

Merkader   |

New Ultimate Spider-Man

So it’s finally here! The new Ultimate version of Spider-Man will debut in his own series on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Ultimate Spider-Man #1.

We got a sneak peek at the new Spider-Man Miles Morales last month in Ultimate Comics Fallout #4. When the news hit that the new Spidey would be a half-black, half-Hispanic character, the internet was a buzzing. Now, the character has his first solo story in Ultimate Spider-Man #1, which launches a new ongoing comic book series at Marvel Comics [...]

First Look At ‘Borderlands 2′ In New Issue Of Game Informer

Merkader   |

Borderlands 2 Game Informer cover

The first images for Borderlands 2, the upcoming sequel to Borderlands, will appear in next month’s issue of Game Informer Magazine. We are going to be treated to 12 pages of exclusive content and screenshots, including how they are going to be changing the mission system to give us a better story. Thank god, because while the first game was fun, the story was absurd to put it lightly.

Borderlands 2 will bring us back to the fictional planet of Pandora. Even though it’s the same planet, there is said to be more diversity in the environments. This is something I thought Borderlands did well. The locations you went to had quite a bit of variety, and I’m excited to see how else they mix things up [...]

Video Game Review: Duke Nukem Forever

Merkader   |

Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem Forever
Xbox 360 | PS3 | PC
2K Games
Release Date: June 14, 2011

Duke Nukem Forever has had a wild ride. This game had been in development since 1996, herald at many an E3 convention as being the next “groundbreaking” game. The problem was, it never came out.

Developer 3D Realms would occasionally release some pictures or game play footage, but always staved off finishing the game by trying to put whatever was new and popular into it. Imagine someone you know is writing a book. For 14 years they would change it around adding whatever was hot at the moment: zombies, vampires, robots, the book would be a mess, right? This is the situation I imagine Gearbox Software was in when they inherited the unfinished game after 3D Realms was sued by its publisher. The very fact that this game was able to be pieced together into something releasable is a miracle. And that’s exactly what we got, something that feels 14 years old and pieced together. If you think about the game’s history, why would you expect anything less? [...]

Duke Nukem Forever

The moment many of us have been waiting over a decade for is just around the corner. The release of a new Duke Nukem game! To celebrate the impending release, Gearbox software, the current developer of the game, has sent out a new release trailer. It is ridiculous, as should anything related to Duke Nukem should be. The video is embedded below.

Originally scheduled to come out in May, Duke Nukem Forever will now be released [finally!] on June 14, 2011 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, but if you pre-ordered you have access to an early beta.

Also, the game producer has sent out the following information today regarding the pre-ordering for First Access Club Members [...]

Watch Now: ‘Gears Of War 3′ World Premiere Trailer

Merkader   |

Gears of War 3

This trailer is the best minute I ever spent. Gears of War 3 gameplay footage, all to the sounds of Ozzy singing “War Pigs.” I wish it was more than a minute long. The game seriously looks Epic (pun intended). There are guys exploding from underground, giant monsters, tiny monsters, and all-out intense fighting. There also looks like their could be some vehicle driving in this here game.

We also get a clue at the story line, it picks up with what was hinted at the end of Gears 2. Marcus’ father is alive, and now, you must rescue him.

Gears of War 3 will be released on September 20, 2011.

Enough listening to me, spend a minute and listen to some Ozzy, you can’t watch this only once! [...]

Video Game Review: Gears Of War 3 Beta

Gears of War 3

Gears of War 3
Beta
Platform: Xbox
Developer: Epic Games, Inc.
Publisher: Microsoft Game Studios
Release date: September 20, 2011 (full product)

The Gears of War series has been one where I have loved the single-player campaign; it’s got lots of action and is just really fun to play. I have always felt the multiplayer lagged behind other games, especially Halo and Call of Duty. With this said, I was very anxious to try out the final game in the series, Gears of War 3, and see if they had brought their multiplayer up to snuff. Several of my gripes have been dealt with, others not so much. Hopefully they can be fixed before the final build; this is after all only the beta. Here are my long-standing complaints with Gears multiplayer and how they have been addressed [...]

Watch Now: ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 3′ Teaser Trailer

Merkader   |

Let the hype building begin! The first teaser trailer for game publisher Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 3 has been released. The new game will be set in the United States, and the trailer specifically teases New York City. I for one can’t wait to shoot at things while running through New York. Sure there have been other games set in New York, but not to the caliber of the Call of Duty series.

The game is being touted as a straight sequel to Modern Warfare 2, so we should see a return of some familiar characters. No firm release date has yet been announced, but I expect to see the game in time for the holidays. I would also expect an announced street date at this year’s E3, which I’m sure MW3 will have a big showing.

Modern Warfare 3 will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation3, and PC. Hopefully online play will be back for the PlayStation3 by the time it comes out [...]

Next ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Game Revealed

Merkader   |

Assassin's Creed Revelation

Game developer Ubisoft finally announced something we all knew was coming: a new Assassin’s Creed game, which will be titled Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

It wasn’t until just now that I realized how convoluted the story line to this game really is. Again you will be Ezio, in the old memories of Desmond. In these genetic dreams, Ezio will do the things that Altair did, forget it, here is the description from the press release.

In Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region. [...]

Watch Now: ‘Arkham City’ Game Play Trailer

Merkader   |

arkham city game play

The first trailer to feature game play from the upcoming sequel to Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, was recently released. It’s posted below so you can take a peek for yourself.

The game play looks very similar to the first game, but way more open. It almost looks as if they took the wide open space that was between the sections of Arkham Asylum and made the game to be like that section, which is fine by me as that was my favorite section in which to play. You get to see Two Face in the trailer, as well as Harley and Cat Woman. It appears that you have to team up with Cat Woman, at least for a bit, as it shows in the trailer Batman saving her from a sniper’s bullet. It also seems that “detective mode” is returning to the game. I just hope they found a way to balance it a bit better so you don’t spend the whole game in that mode so you can see heartbeats [...]

Chris Evans To Star In New ‘Captain America: Super Soldier’ Video Game

Merkader   |

Captain America: Super Soldier

Game developer Sega announced today that they have signed Captain America: The First Avenger star Chris Evans to voice the title character in the upcoming Captain America: Super Soldier video game. His likeness will also be used for the game.

The game will be a third-person shooter and feature an original story where you fight through Hydra castle, facing many “legendary villains.” What villains you ask? Well listed are Red Skull, Iron Cross, Baron Strucker, Madame Hydra, and Arnim Zola. The game sounds like a good old hack and slasher from the description, using melee combos and shield attacks – see full official synopsis here [...]

‘Duke Nukem Forever’ Is Really Happening! Release Date Set

Merkader   |

Duke Nukem Forever

Today game developer Gearbo hit us up with a double dose of Duke Nukem Forever via its Twitter feed. First they gave us an official release date of May 3, 2011, just a little before my birthday, perfect timing. It’s funny to finally have a release date to a title that was on vaporware lists the world over for about a decade.

They also gave us a new trailer which shows some game play footage. It’s embedded below for your viewing pleasure.

The game is available now for pre-order for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC [...]

New ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops’ Map Pack ‘First Strike’ Out February 1st

Merkader   |

Game developer Treyarch has announced via their Twitter page, that the first map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops , dubbed “First Strike,” will be coming February 1st. The video below introduces the four new multiplayer maps. The fifth map in the set, specially made for zombie mode and titled Ascension, has not been revealed.

The first map is called Kowloon and takes place in Kowloon, China, much like the mission you encounter during the single player campaign with things adjusted a bit for online play. The stand out of this map is that it has zip lines, which you can use to move quickly around the map. Unfortunately, you can’t use your gun while you’re on them, making you an easy target. I’m sure I’ll use this once, get shot and never use it again.

The next map is entitled Discovery. This map is split in half with a chasm running through the middle. There are bridges that run over the chasm, some of which are made of ice and snow. these bridges can be blown up, which I think is great for some of the objective modes to the game. [...]
