Back in January it was reported that Cormac McCarthy, author of books that would one day become movies such as No Country For Old Men and The Road, had sold his first spec script, titled The Counselor.

Another day, another remake on the way.

It's being reported that DreamWorks Pictures and Working Title Films will be remaking one of Alfred Hitchcock's many classics, the Best Picture winner from 1940, Rebecca, which starred Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine.

Screenwriter Steven Knight (Eastern Promises, Dirty Pretty Things) has been hired to pen the script, and he will be going back to the original novel of the same name by author Daphne du Maurier. Though production began long ago and we already have a wonderful first trailer to watch (a couple hundred times...per day), director Peter Jackson still had some casting to get done for his two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved classic, The Hobbit.

It's being reported that Jackson has brought in Billy Connolly as the final addition to the cast. Director John Lyde has made a movie for Utah production company Arrowstorm Entertainment, and in this movie the corpse of slain terrorist Osama Bin Laden returns from his watery grave as a zombie.

Twentieth Century Fox has set an official release date for their long-in-development sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was once titled The Wolverine but is now simply being called Wolverine 2 until a more official title is selected.

The studio has reserved July 23, 2013 for the return of Hugh Jackman as the beloved Marvel anti-hero, which will see him heading overseas to Japan for the Samurai storyline this time around. Not too long ago, numerous movies based on popular Hasbro games and toys were set up at Universal, who has since dropped out of most of them. One of them was for a movie based on the popular board game Candy Land, which now has a new home and a large star attached to help make it happen.

It's being reported that Adam Sandler is in final talks with Sony to not only star in their live-action version of Candy Land, but also write the script with Robert Smigel and produce through his Happy Madision Productions. A movie about the story of Noah and his ark from Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky has been floating around out there for a while now, but it's been taking its time getting moving forward.

Nothing is official as of yet, but Aronofsky has shared who he would like to cast in his movie, which is simply titled Noah. It's being reported that Nick Schenk has been hired to work on the screenplay for the long-in-development remake of Paul Verhoeven's 1987 sci-fi classic. Schenk doesn't have a whole lot of writing credits to his name, but one big title he did work on the script for was Clint Eastwood's tragically non-Oscar nominated drama, Gran Torino. We all know the commercial: a little kid dressed as Darth Vader is running around trying to learn the ways of the Force when he unexpectedly starts his parents' Volkswagen using only his mind powers (watch it here).

It was easily one of the most popular Super Bowl commercials of last year, and could arguably be one of the best Super Bowl commercials of all time, though a long list that would be. Now that very commercial has itself something of a sequel that will air during this year's big game.

The cast of Steven Soderbergh's upcoming drama, Side Effects, is coming together, and now a new star has been brought in to replace the departed Blake Lively.

It's being reported that Rooney Mara, star of David Fincher's The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, will replace Lively on the film, which will see her playing a highly depressed and overly medicated woman who's anxious about her soon-to-be-released husband from prison. When passersby in New York City see people flying around the Statue of Liberty, it's going to get people talking. And talk they did.

As it turns out, the stunt was actually a viral marketing ploy put together by masters of deceptive marketing, Thinkmodo, for the upcoming found footage superhero movie, Chronicle.

Unlike other viral marketing efforts like this (which was also done by Thinkmodo for the movie Limitless) and yet-to-be-determined candidates such as this, it was decided to be open and honest about the flying people because, as Thinkmodo put it, it's cooler to show how they actually did it than to try and create a hoax.
