Universal Pictures premiered a new TV spot for their upcoming release Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, the latest beloved children's book from the venerated author to get the CG-animated film treated, during last night's Super Bowl.

Yeah, because this seems like a logical move.

Following the recent move off the project by actor Javier Bardem, Deadline reveals that Universal and Illumination Entertainment have found a replacement to fill the role of villain in their upcoming sequel Despicable Me 2 in the form of one Al Pacino.

The character had been rumored to be named ‘El Macho,’ but unless they decide to have a campy performance from Pacino, the role may be getting a retooling. That said, personally, I love this move for Pacino. Warner Brothers has been attempting to bring a live-action adaption of Akira to the big screen for a long while now, with many budgetary complications and cast and crew issues leading to delay after delay...much to the elation of fans who don't want to see it happen.

There are few movies I love in the world more than John Carpenter's 1982 remake of The Thing. Actually there are two -- Evil Dead 2 and Blade Runner -- but that's not the point. I love The Thing more than the original Alien most days. Apparently you can’t do a film based in the universe of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs without a directing duo behind the camera.

Variety is reporting that the pair of Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn will be helming the upcoming Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 for Sony Animation.

The first film was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who themselves were relatively new to the animation game. Cameron and Pearn both worked on the first film as head of story and a story artist, respectively, so they definitely have a knowledge of the universe they want to build here. This year marked the 30th anniversary of the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark, the original (and still the best) of the Indiana Jones series. To celebrate the occasion animator Jeff Gurwood decided to pay homage to the movie that first brought together Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford with a stop-motion animated recreation of Raiders' famous opening sequence.

Last Friday during the premiere for Green Lantern: The Animated Series, DC Entertainment and Cartoon Network released the first look at the upcoming DC Nation block of television programming that will soon be featured on the network.
