Must See: Full-Size ‘Star Wars’ X-Wing Made With Over 5 Million LEGOs

We’ve seen our share of scale models created by fans over the years, but never anything quite like this.
While not built by fans, this model of an X-Wing from the Star Wars universe built by LEGO is full-size—meaning yes, you can sit inside of it (and will have the opportunity to; more details later). Though sadly, it does not fly.
The model was made using an astonishing 5,335,200 LEGO bricks. At first glance at the above image it looks like it’s made using a few larger LEGOs and some other parts, but as you get a closer peek, you see just how insane the structure really is.
Check out more images of the full size LEGO X-Wing below now! [...]

Check Out Sillof’s Russ Meyer-Inspired ‘Star Wars’ Action Figures Commissioned By Patton Oswalt

In Jason Reitman’s Young Adult, Patton Oswalt plays a partially disabled man who has an affinity for making his own whiskey and customizing action figures. Oswalt got the idea for his character to have the action figure hobby as a fan of Jamie Follis—better known by the name “Sillof“—an artist and custom toy creator and designer.
As Oswalt best describes him, Sillof is an “’action figure customizer’ the way Van Gogh was a ‘painter,’” and through this admiration of the artist’s work, the two connected via the Twitter and began exchanging ideas. This all led to Oswalt commissioning a new line from Sillof, something the artist rarely does. The Inventor Of The Famed Toy ‘Etch A Sketch’ Dies At 86 In Paris

Andre Cassagnes, the inventor of the Etch A Sketch, the toy that spanned generations upon generations of kids and kids at heart which enabled them to draw and then “shake the image away” creating a clean slate and enabling the toy to be used again and again, has died at the age of 86 in France, says Ohio Art, the company that manufactures the famed unit and has done so since 1960.
At first a staple for kids of the baby boomer generation, and then having enough of a popularity to endure strongly today, even in the midst of electronic devices like iPads and the like, which can emulate everything about the toy but its overall charm, the Etch A Sketch in essence enabled the user to be a budding artist. There were no messy paints or myriads of crayons to be used, and the format was relatively simple, utilizing a black line stylus which displaced aluminum powder onto a back of a gray screen either in a horizontal or vertical fashion, as noted by the left and right white knobs on the bottom of the red unit itself. The fun and the trick was seeing what could be done with it. There wasn’t a way to make circular imagery unless one used a certain amount of physics involved to it, and since the line never technically broke and just kept going on the screen, there was the challenge for some to see what kind of realistic, surrealistic, or basically any type of art one could muster up [...]

Director Jon Chu Talks About His He-Man Movie ‘Masters Of The Universe’

A new movie based on the popular Mattel toy He-Man has been in the works for more years than anyone who’s been excited to see the movie cares to admit. For a number of reasons things just haven’t worked out, whether it was budgetary issues, script/story problems, and so on.
Last we heard, G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon Chu was in talks to be the next to take a swing at making a new He-Man movie, titled Masters of the Universe, a reality. Now Chu is talking about his excitement and plans for the movie, and you can read what he’s saying below. [...]

Geek Peek: First Look At ‘LOST’ Star Evangeline Lilly In ‘The Hobbit’

Toys and other merchandising or marketing items being made for a big upcoming movie are a good way to catch your first glimpse of what a certain character will look like or how an actor will look playing a character.
We’ve already had one early geek peek when it comes to Peter Jackson‘s massive three-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit—that first shot of what’s assumed to be the evil Goblin King—and now comes another noteworthy first look. [...]

Elizabeth Banks & Morgan Freeman Lend Their Voices For ‘Lego: The Piece Of Resistance’
 |
Posted by eelyajekiM | August 28th, 2012 at 9:00 pm |

At first I thought a Lego movie would literally fall apart into multicolored pieces. The idea of a film centered on the connective building blocks sounded like a bad one.
Then 21 Jump Street helmers Phil Lord and Chris Miller were brought in to direct and it was revealed that title would be Lego: The Piece of Resistance, and that Channing Tatum and Will Arnett will voice Batman and Superman, two supporting characters who will appear in the film. [...]

He-Man’s In Trouble and Only YOU HAVE THE POWER!!!
 |
Posted by PS Hayes | July 31st, 2012 at 8:00 pm |

Ten years ago, every fan of the Masters of the Universe franchise got what they always wanted – a brand new, updated version of the classic series complete with a new cartoon on Cartoon Network, new, updated action figures, a brand new comic book series, and TONS of other merchandise. It was a dream come true for those of us who had waited almost 20 years for any kind of new Masters of the Universe product. Sadly, ever since He-Man returned in 2002, he’s been fighting an uphill battle. First, his new cartoon was canceled. Then, his comic book was canceled. Then, the new line of figures ended. He-Fans had thought all hope was lost.
Fast forward to the 2008 San Deigo Comic-Con. There, in the Mattel display case was a brand new figure that was the PERFECT He-Man. Fans went wild, message boards were overloaded and shut down. It was announced later that weekend that a brand NEW line of figures were being produced, called Masters of the Univerese Classics. Basically, it was brand new figures based on the classic line, but updated with fantastic sculpts by the legendary Four Horsemen. Instead of selling the figures at retail, Mattel offered a subscription service where you could sign up and get a figure every month. We got some of the best figures ever produced. From mainstays like He-Man and Skeletor to awesome beasts like Battle Cat and Panthro, the line was a dream come true for He-Man fans, and to this day, it still is [...]

‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Director Jon M. Chu In Talks For New He-Man Movie ‘Masters Of The Universe’

We’ve heard more rumors and whispers of a new He-Man movie being made than most folks can keep track of over the years. Once upon a time we had what sounded like the best possible direction the movie could be going in with word of an epic fantasy titled Grayskull: Masters of the Universe, which would be presented along the same lines as Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy with a little Batman Begins and The Matrix thrown in for good measure.
Much time has passed since then with new directors and writers and studios coming and going. But now Sony Pictures is ready to give it another go, and they’ve found the director they want to make it happen. [...]

The movie was once set up at Universal Pictures with The Twilight Saga star Taylor Lautner attached to star, but it has since departed Universal and found its way to Relativity Media’s doorstep, who have been developing it since. [...]
