Ever since I was a little kid I have always loved Star Wars. In fact, it was one of the biggest experiences of my childhood having my dad show the movies to me at home when I was about 6 or 7. After the special editions of the original trilogy were released I found out that they were going to release the first of the prequels in two yrs and I was so excited, but when it happened I was a bit disappointed with the first prequel movie -- Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace -- itself.

Flash forward to present day. It has been 13 years since Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace was released and now since everything is going 3D, I guess creator George Lucas had to jump on the bandwagon and convert the film to 3D -- the 3D reversion was released in theaters this weekend [...]

In this episode of Comics of Doom, Willie Gillis talks to Princeless writer Jeremy Whitley. Whitley talks about his comic book origins, his writing process, and even what he’s currently reading. Princeless, an all-ages four-issue comic book from Action Lab Entertainment, is about a princess named Adrienne who is tired of waiting to be rescued by a prince. Instead, she decides to be the rescuer versus the rescued. Adrienne takes an adventure with her dragon, Sparky, to rescue her sisters from various towers throughout the kingdom.

The Princeless: Save Yourself trade paperback is now available for pre-order through your local comic book shop. The trade will be released in April 2012 [...]

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars creator George Lucas talked about his view on making changes to his fan favorite films, and goes so far as to say that "it's just a movie."

The filmmaker, who is the mastermind behind the Star Wars mega-franchise, which includes six big-screen live-action movies, has come under fire for decades now due to his propensity to make changes to the films, much to fans' dismay. In the interview, Lucas said while other movies gets revisions over time without backlash, when he makes "the slightest change, everybody thinks it’s the end of the world."

One of the most controversial alterations Lucas made was having Greedo the bounty hunter shoot first in his confrontation with the smuggling space pilot Han Solo in the first Star Wars film (Episode IV: A New Hope). DC Comics found out about this man's company and decided that it was within their right to file a claim against the man for violation of copyright and patents that they've had on the Batmobile for decades. Earlier today, my overlord and master Empress Eve posted an article telling all of you about the "it's really happening, isn't it?" Watchmen prequel comics miniseries collection entitled Before Watchmen coming this Summer from DC Comics.

Well folks, I have been tasked to bring you my opinions on the creative teams and titles and to put it shortly, this whole thing is hilarious to me.

First and foremost let's talk about the whole idea of a Watchmen prequel comic. Does it need to happen? Absolutely not. Thinking back on the multiple times that I've read Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' seminal work, I can't recall feeling like I really needed to know anything about their time prior to the events in the comic.[...]

And the meek shall inherit the Earth...

Today is 2-1-12, or 2112... and I couldn't let this day go by without mentioning this date day, a special one for us Rush fans.

In honor of today's date, be sure to crank up Rush's awesome, amazing, fantastic album 2112.

The 1976 concept album was the Canadian's trio's four studio effort, and after their previous album, Caress of Steel, was a financial flop, it was also Rush's final chance with their record label, which was against the band doing another concept album. But the band - bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson, and drummer Neil Peart, the latter of whom was the main lyricist -- stuck to their guns and put out the album they wanted to with 2112. Not only was 2112 the band's first commercial success, the album also went on to become one of the most popular rock albums of all time, with its Starman emblem as one of the most recognizable symbols in rock [...]

Each and every week “The Undisputed Champion” MK2Fac3 and “The People’s Champ” Henchman21 read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. They look forward to some more than others, I mean, who doesn’t? So, let’s take a look into the depths of their pull lists, grab some comics, and we’ll let YOU know what the top books to look forward to are for the week of February 1, 2012. Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

I’m going to just skip the BS and tell you that a lot of great comics are coming out this week, folks. We’ve got all sorts of great single issues and collected editions that are coming out of the woodwork to get you all twisted into a much more awesome and better-looking version that you were before. I don’t know how that’s possible, but I’m pretty sure that it’s what’s going to happen. Anyway, like I said, there are so many good books this week [...]

Cinema in 2011 saw the strikingly bold creation of the universe, as well as an artistic rendering of the universe coming to its bleak annihilation. Audiences were strung along decimated battlefields torn apart because of war, just as they were strung along corridors and offices only to encounter a few decimated souls of Wall Street executives emotionally torn thanks to the realization of a looming stock-market debacle. Trying to escape reality, whether it was by taking cover in an underground tornado shelter, a trip to a Hawaiian resort or engaging in a cult that promises enduring happiness, proved to be an impossible task. Individuals even went to such a distance where they would lock themselves in an octagon cage, attempting to beat the senses out of one another in order to become numb to reality. Reality imperceptibly arrives at our doorstep thousands of times faster than a Formula 1 racecar. Running from it is futile. We have to be fearless and self-sufficient, like Cistercian monks or a taciturn driver with an unruffled spirit [...]

After leaving the rock band Girl in the early 1980s guitarist Phil Collen got the break of his life when he was asked to join Def Leppard. For the past 30 years Collen has been one of the most talented, successful, and underrated axeslingers on the planet.

Recovering from a British tour and festive period, Collen is back in warmer climes chatting to me on the phone from his garden in an “unseasonably hot” California.
