Check Out These Original ‘Raiders Of The Lost Ark’ Script Pages With Harrison Ford’s Notes

BAADASSSSS!   |

Raiders of the Lost Ark

A Tumblr blog entitled Cinephilia & Beyondhas uncovered a very interesting piece of movie memorabilia that fans of the Indiana Jones films will find very interesting: original pages from what looks to be a fifth draft screenplay for Raiders of the Lost Ark written by Lawrence Kasdan, complete with handwritten notes by star Harrison Ford.

You can check out those pages with the notes here below.

It is fascinating to see how actors and actresses approach their roles of varying size, be it the lead in a multi-million dollar film or the understudy to the fifth lead in an off-Broadway play. Constantin Stanislavski, the legendary Russian theater actor and director best known for being the grandfather of “Method” acting, once famously said, “There are no small parts, only small actors.” Great performers invest themselves in their characters with true dedication even if they’re only on camera for a brief scene [...]

Behold Nicolas Cage Dressed As The Man Of Steel For The Unmade ‘Superman Lives’

BAADASSSSS!   |

Superman Lives

Many years ago in the time known as “the late ’90s” – a dark and terrifying era where teenagers walked the streets in a daze chanting “MMMBop” and Republicans in Congress tried desperately to make the American people care only for a semen-stained blue dress – Warner Bros. green-lighted a new Superman motion picture to be directed by Tim Burton with then-recent Oscar honoree Nicolas Cage in the role of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster‘s Big Blue Boy Scout from Beyond the Stars. Tim Allen and Jim Carrey were on board to play the villains Lex Luthor and Brainiac (????), Hulk Hogan was being wooed to play Doomsday, and visions of skull-shaped spaceships and giant spiders were dancing in the coke-addled mind of past-his-prime über-producer Jon Peters.

But with the studio’s top execs still sitting on inflatable pillows after the epic reaming they received on account of Batman & Robin they feared allowing their other prized superhero movie property to become another atrocious camp spectacle and flush a reported $180 million right down the drain. Lost Alternate Ending Of ‘The Shining’ Revealed In Recently Unearthed Script Pages

BAADASSSSS!   |

The Shining Image (1980)

The world of cinema has not been the same since Stanley Kubrick died in March 1999, several months before the theatrical release of what turned out to be his final film, Eyes Wide Shut. There is no denying that Kubrick’s passing left many a devoted follower of his work in total shock, but the legacy of classic films the director left behind helped them to deal with the loss very well.

One of Kubrick’s most popular movies was his 1980 Stephen King adaptation The Shining and since its release more than three decades ago, the film has been widely hailed as one of the greatest horror movies of all time. It has inspired countless parodies, most memorably being the segment “The Shinning” in the “Treehouse of Horror V” episode of The Simpsons, and documentaries devoted to playfully deconstructing the minutiae of the director’s meticulously crafted vision of terror and isolation in a snowbound Colorado hotel. The box office success of The Shining cemented Kubrick’s reputation as a master filmmaker who could work in practically any genre with amazing results and further established lead actor Jack Nicholson as one of the most unconventional and watchable movie stars in show business and worth every dollar of his generous salary [...]

Mysterious Package Sent To Henry Jones At The University Of Chicago; Is Disney Teasing ‘Indiana Jones 5′?

The Movie God   |

Indiana Jone Mystery Package Image #1

A mysterious package arrived at the University of Chicago recently, sent to a one Mr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr.—or, as many of us know him, Indiana Jones.

When he wasn’t off collecting near-death experiences in search of legendary artifacts, Dr. Jones taught archaeology at…you guessed it, the University of Chicago.

The big question—a question the university is eager to find the answer to—is who exactly sent it and why? Is someone just a big fan, crafted this meticulous replica, and offered it as a cool gift? Or are their bigger hands at play here? Could Disney be floating out the subtlest of teases, a gentle whisper that they plan to make Indiana Jones 5? [...]

Support This: ‘A Chess Player’ by Shea Sizemore

A Chess Player by Shea Sizemore

What happens when the thing you love, the thing you are most passionate about, becomes all that you are? Director Shea Sizemore‘s A Chess Player aims to examine what happens when your dream consumes you, leaving only that dream.

Sizemore’s short film will span 50 years and follow Tony, a man who discovers his love for the game of Chess and builds his entire life on it, only to fall from its graces in surprising and tragic ways. Think Brooklyn Castle meets Fight Club: underground basement tournaments, cigarette smoke fills the air as bare lightbulbs hover above a shifting crowd of onlookers.

The spectators watch with excitement, shouting and making bets, passing money as two people play against the clock and themselves. Sounds pretty bad-ass, right?

Shea Sizemore needs YOUR help to make this short film a reality, however. With only 19 days remaining, Shea has raised $1,910 of his $7,500 goal on Kickstarter. But enough of me blabbering on, I’ll let Shea tell you all about it [...]

Star Wars Image Shows Just How Commercial Things Have Gotten On Tatooine

Empress Eve   |

Tatooine

No one seems to know the original source of the above photo, but I think we can all agree, it’s pretty awesome.

Captioned “The commercial side of Tatooine,” the image shows a Sandcrawler on a populated beach on the desert planet of Tatooine.

Sandcrawlers are vehicles in the Star Wars films used by the Jawas to transport droids they find and sell, like C-3PO and R2-D2. The Jawas live on Tatooine — that’s where Luke Skywalker grew up and then later faced Jabba the Hutt in Return Of The Jedi [...]

French Fast Food Joint Releases ‘Star Wars’ Burgers For ‘Phantom Menace’ 3D Release

The Movie God   |

Darth Vader and Yoda Burger

>
A French fast food restaurant called Quick is making some specialty burgers in conjunction with the re-release of Star Wars: Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace in 3D.

>
The trio of burgers each draw inspiration from the Star Wars universe. The first is the “Dark Burger,” inspired by Darth Maul (or “Dark Maul”), which can be seen here. Then comes the “Jedi Burger,” inspired by Master Yoda and the Jedi, and last but not least, the “Dark Vador” burger, which is of course inspired by Darth Vader and can be seen above. [...]

Bat-Ceiling Fan

Who in the world would not want to accessorize their house with wonderful bits and pieces of Batman-related items? No one that I would want to know, that’s for sure. So, for all of those that I would like to know, bask in the glory that is the Batman Ceiling Fan.

Initially sold by The Atomic Lounge on Etsy, these bat-inspired blades seem also to have been initially designed for those of the gothic nature by referring to them as “Bat/Dragon Wing Fan Blades” – which, they work perfectly for, as well [...]

‘Doctor Who’ Paper Craft: Build Your Own TARDIS

cGt2099   |

Doctor Who Cubeecraft

There’s been a cool little crafty fan movement online for some while now, especially from the folks over at Cubeecraft, for people to put together their own cuby geek goodies using paper craft. Now, thanks to some dedicated time and modifications by Chris aka ~CyberDrone over at Deviantart.com, you can now construct your own TARDIS from Doctor Who.

And it’s not just one TARDIS we’re talking here… there are several variations including the Bad Wolf TARDIS from the David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston periods, a classic black and white TARDIS from the early William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton days, and even the rare pink TARDIS from one of Sylvester McCoy‘s episodes. Yes, you read that correctly: a PINK TARDIS! [...]

The Princess Leia (Or Princess Vespa) Headphones You’ve Been Waiting For!

The Movie God   |

Leia Headphones

One of Princess Leia’s iconic traits in the Star Wars universe is her dual-bunned hairstyle. Many have worn it (or tried to wear it) since then, but now it can be so much easier and more useful than before.

JacquieLongLegs has created some Princess Leia headphones, which can be purchased right now on Etsy. And though these are Princess Leia headphones, there is no denying their being a nice replica of the headphones wore by Princess Vespa in Mel Brooks’ Star Wars parody, Spaceballs…which might make them even more fun to own. The Bumble & Wampa Snow Creatures Battle It Out As Cupcakes

Empress Eve   |

cupcakes

As far as snow creatures go, the Wampa Ice Creature from Star Wars: The Empires Strikes Back and the Bumble, the Abominable Snow Monster from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, are probably the most popular. So, it’s not so surprising that someone would want to pit the two monsters against each other.

The Sugar Swings baking blog decided to do so by whipping up a few batches of Wampa and Bumble cupcakes. The results are pretty awesome [...]

These Batman Stamps Are Totally Rad

MK2Fac3   |

Batstamps Header

They may not be “real,” as defined by Webster’s Dictionary, but these stamps designed by Canadian DeviantArtist koinogenki are totally awesome and should by all means exist in The United States so that I might purchase and put them in my fictional stamp collection.

They’re really cool in a sort of pop art, neo deco style that mixes the style of the silver age Batman adapted to the stylish sensibility of Batman: The Animated Series. Anyway, check out the full collection of these Batman stamps below [...]
