Star Wars Image Shows Just How Commercial Things Have Gotten On Tatooine

No one seems to know the original source of the above photo, but I think we can all agree, it’s pretty awesome.
Captioned “The commercial side of Tatooine,” the image shows a Sandcrawler on a populated beach on the desert planet of Tatooine.
Sandcrawlers are vehicles in the Star Wars films used by the Jawas to transport droids they find and sell, like C-3PO and R2-D2. The Jawas live on Tatooine — that’s where Luke Skywalker grew up and then later faced Jabba the Hutt in Return Of The Jedi [...]

French Fast Food Joint Releases ‘Star Wars’ Burgers For ‘Phantom Menace’ 3D Release

>
A French fast food restaurant called Quick is making some specialty burgers in conjunction with the re-release of Star Wars: Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace in 3D.
>
The trio of burgers each draw inspiration from the Star Wars universe. The first is the “Dark Burger,” inspired by Darth Maul (or “Dark Maul”), which can be seen here. Then comes the “Jedi Burger,” inspired by Master Yoda and the Jedi, and last but not least, the “Dark Vador” burger, which is of course inspired by Darth Vader and can be seen above. [...]

 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | January 2nd, 2012 at 4:08 pm |

Who in the world would not want to accessorize their house with wonderful bits and pieces of Batman-related items? No one that I would want to know, that’s for sure. So, for all of those that I would like to know, bask in the glory that is the Batman Ceiling Fan.
Initially sold by The Atomic Lounge on Etsy, these bat-inspired blades seem also to have been initially designed for those of the gothic nature by referring to them as “Bat/Dragon Wing Fan Blades” – which, they work perfectly for, as well [...]

‘Doctor Who’ Paper Craft: Build Your Own TARDIS
 |
Posted by cGt2099 | December 30th, 2011 at 5:00 pm |

There’s been a cool little crafty fan movement online for some while now, especially from the folks over at Cubeecraft, for people to put together their own cuby geek goodies using paper craft. Now, thanks to some dedicated time and modifications by Chris aka ~CyberDrone over at Deviantart.com, you can now construct your own TARDIS from Doctor Who.
And it’s not just one TARDIS we’re talking here… there are several variations including the Bad Wolf TARDIS from the David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston periods, a classic black and white TARDIS from the early William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton days, and even the rare pink TARDIS from one of Sylvester McCoy‘s episodes. Yes, you read that correctly: a PINK TARDIS! [...]

The Princess Leia (Or Princess Vespa) Headphones You’ve Been Waiting For!

One of Princess Leia’s iconic traits in the Star Wars universe is her dual-bunned hairstyle. Many have worn it (or tried to wear it) since then, but now it can be so much easier and more useful than before.
JacquieLongLegs has created some Princess Leia headphones, which can be purchased right now on Etsy. And though these are Princess Leia headphones, there is no denying their being a nice replica of the headphones wore by Princess Vespa in Mel Brooks’ Star Wars parody, Spaceballs…which might make them even more fun to own. [...]

The Bumble & Wampa Snow Creatures Battle It Out As Cupcakes

As far as snow creatures go, the Wampa Ice Creature from Star Wars: The Empires Strikes Back and the Bumble, the Abominable Snow Monster from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, are probably the most popular. So, it’s not so surprising that someone would want to pit the two monsters against each other.
The Sugar Swings baking blog decided to do so by whipping up a few batches of Wampa and Bumble cupcakes. The results are pretty awesome [...]

These Batman Stamps Are Totally Rad
 |
Posted by MK2Fac3 | November 18th, 2011 at 1:00 pm |

They may not be “real,” as defined by Webster’s Dictionary, but these stamps designed by Canadian DeviantArtist koinogenki are totally awesome and should by all means exist in The United States so that I might purchase and put them in my fictional stamp collection.
They’re really cool in a sort of pop art, neo deco style that mixes the style of the silver age Batman adapted to the stylish sensibility of Batman: The Animated Series. Anyway, check out the full collection of these Batman stamps below [...]

Geek Art: Fro Design Co’s ‘Doctor Who’ Print
 |
Posted by Goodman | September 7th, 2011 at 8:37 pm |

We’ve spotlighted Fro Design Co‘s art on the site before, but as fan of art prints and Doctor Who, I couldn’t pass the opportunity to talk about this new piece.
In celebration of the show’s return, Fro Design has released a new print focused on the episode “Let’s Kill Hilter.” Dark and TARDIS blue, the image captures the time image in a menacing silhouette of the Nazi villain. Titled “I Think I’ll Kill The Fuhrer,” the print measures 11×17 and is $30.
On sale now, there will only be 50 of these produced, so snag one while they’re hot. We’ve included am image of the full print below (click the thumbnail) — what do you think about the design of it? Will you be picking one up? [...]

Geek Discussion: As Use Of The Word “Geek” Skyrockets, Best Buy Is Watching Closely

It’s no secret that use of the word “geek” has evolved from being somewhat derogatory into something of a medal of honor without and specific meaning. Many think of it as someone who’s very much into science fiction and fantasy genre movies, TV shows, and games. But we here at Geeks of Doom like to think being a geek now means that an individual is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about something. You can be the traditional geek, a tech geek, a heavy metal geek, a food geek, and the list goes on and on and on. It’s surely come a long way since its time as a high school clique consisting of computer nerds, this much is for sure.
But no matter what your own definition of the word might be, as “geek” continues to evolve and gain popularity in everyday usage, it was only a matter of time before it also attracted some not-so-pleasant attention in the process.
Be sure to keep reading for much more and to see a video related to the discussion! [...]

Must See: What Your Zombie-Proof House Should Look Like

Not much needs to be said about this one. Basically, someone in Warsaw, Poland decided to build a 100% zombie-proof house — you know, just in case the devastating plague we’ve seen play out so many times in movies, TV shows, comic books, and video games ever actually happens.
The shocking thing about the house is that it’s actually really nice when it’s not in zombie-proof mode — where it just looks like a big box — and many folks would happily live here. That said, considering an actual zombie outbreak is known as a fictional event (at the moment, anyway), is the price tag worth the novelty?
Click on over to the other side to see the images for yourself and read about the design.
Here’s a description of some of the house’s features and how they work. You can see more images and read more about the house by heading to All That Is Interesting (via Daily Dead). [...]

Geek ’Shop: Leprekhhhaaaaaan!!!

Kevin David Anderson, author of Night Of The Living Trekkies, sent us a fun greeting for St. Patrick’s Day which mashes up the evil leprechaun from the Leprechaun horror movies, with Star Trek‘s beloved Captain James T. Kirk in “Leprekhhhaaaaaan!!!”
If you don’t get this reference, I implore you to immediately watch one of the greatest movies ever, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Happy St. Patty’s Day, everyone! [...]

Watch Now: Geeks Go Wild In New Music Video ‘Tonight I’m Frakking You’

A new video from Break.com is making it’s way around the web, and it’s…interesting, to say the very least.
The video is a spoof on the Enrique Inglesias song “Tonight I’m Loving You” dubbed “Tonight I’m Frakking You,” which replaces all the rhythmic sex of an Inglesias video with about as much geek content as humanly possible. No lie, friends, this is an all-geek wildfire, featuring cosplay fun from comic book superheros, Star Wars, Super Mario Brothers, Ghostbusters, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, and more.
You’ll even find a few familiar faces involved like Kunal Nayaar from Big Bang Theory, a brief cameo from BSG alum Richard Hatch, Amy Okuda from The Guild, and the absolute highest of high points of this video: Caprica star Alessandra Torresani as Princess Leia. Yes, that. You should go see. You can hug me later.
Be sure to click on over to the other side now to check out the video for “Tonight I’m Frakking You.” [...]

Geek Find: Star Wars, Star Trek & Doctor Who Door Skins

A month ago, we wrote about a one-of-a-kind custom-made TARDIS bed that was up for auction in New Zealand with bids up to $4,200. If that’s something that caught your eye, then here’s something a little more affordable: a TARDIS door skin!
The people over at Fantasy Factor are selling this Doctor Who TARDIS door skin for $350 painted ($250 unpainted) right now, along with several other scifi-themed door skins.
See image at right of the TARDIS door skin; video below of several other versions, including those for Star Trek Holodeck, Star Wars Millennium Falcon, and a Tim Burton art style, as well as Avatar, and Resident Evil. There’s also dinosaur, cartoon, and princess themes [...]

‘Tron: Legacy’ Heats Up With Playboy Tribute Pictorial (NSFW)

Fanboys (and some girls) everywhere, your fantasies have now become a reality.
Iconic adult magazine, Playboy, has a new pictorial in their Cyber Club called “Game On.” The spread is completely Tron themed, and acts as a tribute to the movie along with its brand new sequel, Tron: Legacy. The shoot mixes beautiful women with light cycles, body paint suits, and all the neon your little hearts can take.
Tron: Legacy comes out this Friday the 17th, and is the sequel to 1982′s Tron. The sequel follows Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), as he seeks to find his father, who has been missing for over two decades.
Now, clearly this is Playboy and if you want to check out a glimpse of these bad boys, you must do so being fully aware that these are completely NSFW. That said, the images are more artistic and geek-hot than anything dirty, so if you’re of an open mind, go forth and enjoy! [...]

Last month, we spotlighted some very cool Doctor Who Wrapping Paper made by Merrypranxter’s, aka designer Lauren Castor, sold through her Etsy shop.

So, if you had your eye on getting buying some of this wrapping paper, for the uber-geek in your life, now’s the time!
Also, she’s added a few more Christmas-themed geeky designs to her selections, including the Christmas TARDIS and Klingon Christmas. These styles are among several other Star Wars, Star Trek, and Doctor Who-themed wrapping paper and holiday cards (as well as many of her original designs).
