Cinemumra   |

James Bond

As the film nears its long awaited November release date, we finally have our first look at the upcoming return of James Bond, Skyfall, and it’s a killer.

The James Bond Facebook page has released the first photo from the film, which itself has been in purgatory for seemingly years now, particularly following a long and much talked about battle over at MGM. However, all roads are leading to the film’s release later this year, and with this photo, hopes couldn’t be higher. [...]

Edgar Wright & Simon Pegg Hint At ‘Shaun Of The Dead,’ ‘Hot Fuzz’ Follow-Up

The Movie God   |

Shaun of the Dead

It’s hard to put into words just how good Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are. Because of this, fans of the movies have been impatiently awaiting the arrival of the third movie in what’s often times called the “Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy.”

The movies aren’t connected apart from the never-fail combination of director Edgar Wright and stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, as well as their very basic recipe: take a popular genre (horror, action, _____?), introduce generous slice of comedic fried gold,, and run wild with it. Oh, right, and a sprinkle of blood and ice cream to enhance flavor, of course. [...]

The Movie God   |

Beavis and Butt–Head

Ever wondered what the newly revived MTV series Beavis and Butt-Head would look like in real life? Well…too bad, we’re going to show you anyway!

Special effects and make-up whiz Kevin Kirkpatrick is the man responsible for bringing the underachieving animated duo to life. If you’ve not heard the name before, you’ve most definitely seen his work. He’s done make-up work on the Friday the 13th, The Wolfman, and Nightmare on Elm Street remakes, as well as upcoming titles like The Avengers, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln (ironic, eh?). BAADASSSSS!   |

Akira

With the live-action remake of the seminal 1988 Japanese animated futuristic action epic Akira that absolutely no one was asking for recently being shut down due to budgetary concerns (apparently Warner Bros. thinks a sprawling science-fiction adventure set in a dystopian future can be made for less than the cost of an Adam Sandler movie) there’s no time like the present to begin your appreciation of the original manga-inspired film. Wait, What? ‘Silent Hill’ Took Place At ‘Kindergarten Cop’ School?

The Movie God   |

Kindergarten Cop

Clicking this it was assumed that it would be a waste of time…and it still very well might be, if it turns out to be bogus somehow.

But at first glance, a slew of comparison pictures seems to indicate that the school in the hit 1999 survival horror video game Silent Hill was in fact the very same school Arnold Schwarzenegger found himself teaching kindergarten at in the 1990 flick, Kindergarten Cop. [...]

Excelsior! Check Out The ‘Community’ Gang Envisioned As Marvel’s X-Men

BAADASSSSS!   |

Community

I’ve made it clear in the past that in recent months Community has become one of my absolute favorite television comedies of all time. So as I and millions of fans of the show around the world anxiously await its still-undated return it’s time that we take stock of Community‘s limitless supply of awesomeness and how it can be applied to other geek-related properties.

We’ve seen the Community‘s cast of characters depicted in fan artwork as Batman villains and the Avengers. Now artist Aviv Or has outdone them all with his vision of Greendale Community College’s finest study group as Marvel Comics’ uncanny team of super-powered mutants, the X-Men. [...]

The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan‘s fond farewell to the good people of Gotham City (that’s budgeted at $250 million), is without a doubt the movie event of 2012. Star Wars Image Shows Just How Commercial Things Have Gotten On Tatooine

Empress Eve   |

Tatooine

No one seems to know the original source of the above photo, but I think we can all agree, it’s pretty awesome.

Captioned “The commercial side of Tatooine,” the image shows a Sandcrawler on a populated beach on the desert planet of Tatooine.

Sandcrawlers are vehicles in the Star Wars films used by the Jawas to transport droids they find and sell, like C-3PO and R2-D2. The Jawas live on Tatooine — that’s where Luke Skywalker grew up and then later faced Jabba the Hutt in Return Of The Jedi [...]
