In a life-imitates-art moment, Zoolander star Owen Wilson recently got to meet the current Prime Minster of Malaysia, and the actor’s friend and frequent co-star Ben Stiller tweeted a photo of Wilson with the PM at a formal event.

Although not as dramatic as its on-screen counterpart, the photo shows Wilson posing and shaking hands with Prime Minster Najib Razak. Of the photo, Stiller wrote, “Hansel meets the real Prime minister of Malaysia!” (See the photo here above.)

If you’ve seen the 2001 comedy Zoolander, then you know how awesome this shot is. In the film’s plot, Stiller’s title character, a dim-witted, but highly successful male model, is brainwashed by the maniacal Mugatu (Will Ferrell) to assassinate the Prime Minster of Malaysia. Wilson plays Hansel, Stiller’s new model competition, who ultimately teams up with him to thwart Mugatu’s evil plan [...]

A possible teaser poster for next summer’s The Wolverine has leaked today. You can check it out here below.

The image was supposedly taken from the office of director James Mangold. If it proves to be authentic the poster will confirm that the next movie is taking Marvel’s ageless, adamantium-clawed mutant to Japan for a storyline adapted from the early 1980′s comic miniseries by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller that will pit Logan against ninjas, samurai, and a lost love. It’s a stark and powerful teaser with Wolverine’s trademark claws slashing through the image of the flag and the tagline “Rising Soon” playing on the nation’s identity as the Land of the Rising Sun [...]

Even on a Sunday the floor of this year’s WonderCon at the Anaheim Convention Center is abuzz. Dominating the landscape of the exhibition hall are the booths of comic publishers DC, IDW, and Archaia.

But, quite possibly the best booth at the Con so far is the one for HBO’s Game of Thrones television series. Fans of the show can have a gruesome photo taken with their head digitally impaled on a spike. The photos feature the iconic and apt phrase from Game of Thrones, “The King Can Do As He Likes.”

At the DC booth, the massive publisher showcased the latest in DC Direct figures from the upcoming Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. Among the figures were Bane, Batman, and Catwoman in her full costume. In addition, DC looks to be teaming up with New Era to produce Batman vs Bane hats — the hats feature the dark knight and bane slugging it out in the streets of Gotham [...]

WonderCon 2012 is underway this weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. A few of us here at Geeks of Doom hit the convention this weekend to report on the major movie panels — you can follow our coverage HERE — as well as check out the large array of creative cosplay.

Game Of Thrones was recently released on DVD and Blu-ray and Season 2 of the HBO series is only two weeks away!

Entertainment Weekly has devoted its cover story this week to the popular television series with four separate cover shots. While shooting the cover, they snapped an impromptu photo of the cast in their medieval-like garb with swords in hand busting out some – of all things – air guitar!

Seth MacFarlane, creator of animated series Family Guy and American Dad!, was on hand at the South by Southwest film festival to show off the first footage from his upcoming feature film directorial debut, Ted.

The movie is said to be a hard R-rated comedy about a man whose childhood teddy bear comes to life, and happens to be a swear-happy pothead and troublemaker. It stars Mark Wahlberg as the man whose childhood wish comes true, and MacFarlane is playing the teddy bear via motion capture performance. [...]

Image Comics reblogged an awesome mash up piece from Li’l Depressed Boy creator Sina Grace combining the title character with Image Comics’ original Spawn on the publisher’s official Tumblr on Monday.

The tantalizing glimpses at Ridley Scott‘s upcoming 3D science-fiction spectacular Prometheus have been slowly leaking out over the past few months. Now we’ve got an amazing new image from the film to feast our eyes upon, courtesy of the Weyland Industries website.

Apparently this is supposed to be a star map control room on one of the spaceships featured in Prometheus, most likely from an alien vessel. An unidentified human (or otherwise) character stands in the center of this beautiful galactic tableau. Could this be the space jockey’s ship we’re seeing? Maybe it’s not even in a spaceship [...]

Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures have unleashed the final theatrical poster for their upcoming superhero team feature The Avengers, loaded with star quality and credits and the works. You can check it out here below.

It’s not the most exciting image Marvel could have used for the poster heralding the film that has been in the works ever since Samuel L. Jackson stepped out of the shadows during the end credits scene in the first Iron Man, but it works well. I think it’s just a shame that the studio couldn’t have rounded up the entire cast at the same time for a poster photo shoot rather than put together this somewhat sloppily composed image [...]

Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, of The Muppets fame, put every other celebrity couple to shame last night when they walked the Red Carpet at the 84th Annual Academy Awards in designer fashions.

We got a glimpse of the duo yesterday, but now Disney has released several backstage and Red Carpet images of the happy couple, who were at the awards ceremony in Hollywood because “Man or Muppet,” a song from their recent movie, was nominated for Best Original Song (which went on to win the category).

Yesterday, we posted a pair of set photos from the Los Angeles location shoot of Star Trek 2. Six more photos have emerged from the production and you can check them out here below.

Much like the ones released earlier, the set pics are taken from the filming of a fight scene involving Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), and the film’s still-unnamed villain played by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch. In the sixth picture, in addition to Quinto and Cumberbatch with their stunt doubles you can clearly see the IMAX camera being used to capture the action [...]

The plot line for the currently-in-production Star Trek 2 may still be a matter of national security, but until director J.J. Abrams gives Paramount the go-ahead to release an official plot synopsis, MTV got its hands on some photos from the set rife with interpretive possibilities.

Since we don’t know anything about the story for the much-anticipated sequel we can barely surmise what exactly is happening in these pics, but the set images clearly depict an intense battle going on between Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana – looking positively badass with a phaser I might add), and the film’s villain, played by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch (BBC’s Sherlock, Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy) [...]

The International Toy Fair currently going on in New York City isn’t a convention, even though it may look sort of like one from a distance. Toy Fair is all about sellers trying to woo buyers at the most basic of definitions. There are indie creators in booths huckstering their creations right along side big boys like Hasbro and Mattel. Buyers also range in size from mom and pop hobby shops to Target and Walmart.

The other day we reported that Robert Rodriguez was working on a sequel to his 2010 action splatterfest Machete called Machete Kills that would reunite the director with his longtime collaborator and Machete leading man Danny Trejo, and that he was planning to begin filming pretty soon.

Today we are bring you your first look at a promotional poster for Machete Kills that will premiere at the European Film Market this week.
