‘Scream 4′ With Wes Craven Made Official; Release Date Announced
We’ve heard quite a lot of talk about a Scream 4 being made, but it always seemed to be writer Kevin Williamson or one of the stars chatting about it and rarely anything official. The biggest question surrounding the movie, which would mark the first flick in the franchise since 2000′s Scream 3, was whether or not director Wes Craven would return. Various reports have seemed to point to Craven coming back, but until today, those were all just a lot of hopes and finger crossing from those involved. And let’s not kid ourselves — since Williamson and Craven were not part of that third movie, their involvement is nothing short of crucial to the success of this movie.
Now, the answer to this all-important question now appears to be a 100% yes. Dimension and The Weinstein Company have put out an official press release, and not only does it confirm Craven’s return, but it also reaffirms the return of stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and gives us a release date for Scream 4. Now we get to wait and see who the new faces they plan to cast will be; will they be known or unknowns? [...]

The publisher released a new Pasqual Ferry teaser to the upcoming story by Mark Waid and Paul Azaceta. Check out the image and Marvel’s full press release below regarding the issue, which comes out tomorrow [...]

IDW To Release ‘A-Team’ Movie Tie-In Comics
 |
Posted by Vactor | February 22nd, 2010 at 11:57 pm |
Are you eagerly anticipating the upcoming summer movie event The A-Team? Can’t wait until the film hits theaters June 11, 2010? Well I’ve got good news for you!
IDW Publishing is partnering with Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising (Fox Licensing) to launch two A-Team comic book series this March, entitled A-Team: Shotgun Wedding and A-Team: War Stories. Each comic will be an original story written and illustrated by some of the industry’s biggest names. Each series will be available as single issues in March and April, and collected into individual graphic novels in May and will give fans an in-depth look at the upcoming action-adventure film from Twentieth Century Fox, which will be released in theaters June 11, 2010.
Tom Waltz (editor and co-writer on the comic) had this to say:
“Like many, I was a huge fan of the original A-Team television series in the 80’s. I’m happy to report, after reading the new movie script, the updated A-Team movie has all the wit, swagger and kick-ass action of the original series, but tells a story much bigger than was possible on the show. For our comics, we’ve worked directly with the filmmakers to build a solidly action-packed foundation for a new generation of A-Team fans.” [...]

Trailer, Poster & Synopsis For Judd Apatow Produced ‘Get Him To The Greek’
No one denies how good the movies that Judd Apatow directs tend to be, but many great comedies that have his name attached to them are ones that he is in the role of producer on.
One of the Apatow-produced films that won many hearts and much laughter was of course Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Now, many of the talents that made that film are set to bring us another called Get Him to the Greek, and you can see the first official trailer, poster, and synopsis right here.
The movie stars Russell Brand and Jonah Hill, and it tells the story of a young record label up-and-comer who has to find a way to get an unruly rock star from London to a comeback concert date in Los Angeles. Get Him to the Greek is also directed by Sarah Marshall helmer Nicholas Stoller, which is actually pretty fitting. Considering the synopsis of this movie, those involved, and people like Brand’s character in Sarah Marshall, it feels almost more like sequel or spinoff movie than its own film, and that could be a lot of fun in its own right. 3D ‘Stretch Armstrong’ Grabs ‘The Twilight Saga’ Star Taylor Lautner; ‘Battleship’ Now Set To Strike On Memorial Day
Universal Pictures is making some big moves with two upcoming titles based on toys by Hasbro: Stretch Armstrong and Battleship.
The biggest announcement comes in the form of Taylor Lautner, star of The Twilight Saga, who has yet again been cast as a superhero of sorts with incredible abilities: Stretch Armstrong. Just in the past few months, we’ve discovered that Lautner was being cast in the title role of teen hero flick, Max Steel, and also that he might be showing up in the not-so-superhero-based remake of 1985′s Vision Quest.
Aside from this casting announcement and the shocking reveal that the movie will be in 3D, not much has been said of the Stretch Armstrong movie. It, like so many other toy-based movie projects, was simply announced and then ventured off to do whatever it has been doing. All we do know is that Steve Oedekerk (Bruce Almighty, Kung-Pow) has written the screenplay, and that mega-producer Brian Grazer is one of the names behind the production. [...]

‘Fallout: New Vegas’ Teaser Trailer Released, Set For Fall Release!
After the gigantic success of Fallout 3, fans of the series have been itching for more post-apocalyptic action. With the announcement of a fourth game entitled Fallout: New Vegas, you can only imagine how excited said fans have been, and it doesn’t look like the wait will be all that tortuous.
Bethesda Softworks has officially announced that Fallout: New Vegas will be released in the Fall of 2010. To accompany this exciting news, a brand new teaser trailer in true Fallout fashion has also been released for your viewing pleasure.
While it was Bethesda who brought us Fallout 3 and all of the great new combat and first person shooter styles that made the RPG truly special, it is Obsidian Entertainment who is handling the developing duties for New Vegas. Obsidian is no stranger to the world — they made Fallout 2 — but this does raise the question: will this new title have the same gameplay as its Game of the Year-crowned predecessor, or will it go back to older RPG styles? [...]

Check Out These New Posters & Images From ‘The Wolfman’
It’s been a long, dark road for the Universal Pictures re-imagining of their own classic monster icon in The Wolfman. Though many troubles were faced on this path, the movie is now only a couple of short weeks away from being unleashed upon us, and the studio is on the prowl to try and get folks truly excited.
Among the goodies being released this week, a couple of new posters and images are here to peek at. One of the posters is your basic movie one-sheet that you’ll see on walls and in movie theaters, while the other is a special limited edition poster from Basil Gogos that looks more like a homage to the ’40s monster than this new creation. Both posters are worth a glance if you’re into that sorta thing. As for images, there is quite a few making their rounds today — some of which you’ve probably seen, while others will be new. We’ve included a few of the new images below.
Head over to the other side to read a synopsis and witness the rest of these new images and posters. [...]

‘(500) Days Of Summer’ Director Marc Webb To Take Over ‘Spider-Man’ Franchise
It didn’t take Sony Pictures long to find a new director to helm their recently decided reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. The studio has hired relatively unknown Marc Webb to take on the new high-profile, high-risk, high-reward project after the realization that we had seen the best we could have seen from the former cast and crew. The script is written by James Vanderbilt, who Sony had writing multiple sequels.
Webb recently received critical praise for his work on the indie film (500) Days of Summer, which starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. Aside from that movie, Webb has only really done a couple of music videos for Green Day and 3 Doors Down. This makes him a bold choice for director, and it puts him in a massive position that could very easily make or break his entire career. No pressure there. And speaking of Gordon-Levitt, he seems to be the majority fan-favorite for the role of Peter Parker. The hiring of Webb makes this prospect a lot more of a legitimate possibility. [...]

New Poster, Synopsis & Red Band Trailer For Jude Law’s ‘Repo Man’
Not much has been said about the upcoming science fiction movie Repo Man so far, but all of that changes now with the massive Merry Christmas release of the official synopsis, a new poster and image, and best of all, a shiny new Red Band trailer for all of us big kids to enjoy.
The movie sounds like it has a very cool concept in which Jude Law works as a Repo Man, though not the kind of repossession work that you and I are familiar with. See — in the future, a company has developed artificial organs that run a lot of cash, and when folks aren’t able to pay up, they send their best men out to reacquire the property…if you catch my drift. Of course, with a little twist of the plot, things will get very interesting between Law and his partner (Forest Whitaker).
Repo Man also stars Liev Schrieber, RZA, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten. It is directed by Miguel Sapochnik and will be released everywhere on April 2, 2010. [...]

Benicio Del Toro’s ‘The Wolfman’ Gets A Second Trailer
If you haven’t seen anything from Joe Johnston‘s (Jumanji, Hidalgo) The Wolfman, then you are missing out big time. A remake of the classic monster movie from 1941, the movie looks like it keeps a lot of that old school charm while utilizing today’s technological advancements to bring some fantastic tones and realism to the party.
Most second trailers have a nasty habit of using almost the entirety of their initial first trailer, with a few small new bits sprinkled in from time-to-time. This new Wolfman trailer is having none of that, they make sure that you get your money’s worth before you even have to pay for anything with a trailer composed of almost all new images and clips that we haven’t seen yet. Another thing the trailer does is use modern music to a period setting with some guitar melodies accompanying the old Victorian setting — always a cool little mix.
Click over for a full, detailed new synopsis and to watch the trailer, which was released via Apple. [...]

‘Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day’ Official Poster, Images & New Trailer!
We’re now officially in October and the 30th is only right around the corner. On that day, we will finally get the sequel of the decade: Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, and there’s a buzzing excitement in the air we breathe! To fuel this excitement, Sony has released an official poster, a few new images to peek at, as well as the new Green Band trailer for all to see. The first and only trailer that we saw was of course the Red Band trailer that was released last month, so this new trailer is the first safe for work look at the movie.
The trailer is basically the same as the Red Band offering, but there are differences and there’s definitely some new shots we haven’t seen yet, making it absolutely worth watching in full oogle-eyed fashion. The poster can be seen at the upper-right (click for full size) and it’s the high quality version of the poster that we’ve seen photographed at conventions. [...]

Unexpected Cherry On Top: Disney Chairman Dick Cook Fired? ‘Pirates 4′ Doomed?!
If you visit the site everyday (or any movie site, for that matter), you know that recently there was a massive shower of Disney-related news announced at their D23 Expo — most of which were revealed by Disney Chairman, Dick Cook. Most of the news was very exciting, including big news about a Muppet takeover, information on big Pixar sequels Toy Story 3 and Cars 2, and the official title for the fourth movie in their Pirates franchise: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
After this Christmas morning of announcements, the last thing you would expect to top it all off would be bad news, but that’s just what we’ve been given. It’s being reported by Nikki Finke that after 38 years of service, and an impressively popular reputation, Chairman Dick Cook has now been fired by Disney President and CEO Bob Iger. There are reports that the two weren’t exactly seeing eye-to-eye, as well.
It was initially reported that he had innocently just “stepped down” from his position, which Disney is standing by, even though Finke has multiple updates on her report that quote various Disney insiders who are saying that it was a firing, and not one that is being taken lightly. [...]

Guillermo del Toro & Walt Disney Team Up For Scary Animated Adventures!
Walt Disney Studios made some big announcements yesterday at their D23 Expo. One of which is the reveal that they have entered into a collaboration with none other than visual genius Guillermo del Toro, and will be launching a special new production label called Double Dare You. The goal for this new label: create a slew of new animated feature films for people of all ages, that are a lot more on the dark and scary side of things. The projects will all be overseen and produced by del Toro — who originally came up with the concept and design of the label — with some even being directed by him personally.
This is fantastic news for fans of animated movies. Guillermo del Toro is the absolute king of visually sensational cinema, and to have his hand and his style going into some darker animated films could be truly wonderful. It would be expected that the movies will have something of a Monster House feel to them. [...]

Welcome To Hollywood East: A Look At New England’s Plymouth Rock Studios
If you’re not familiar with the story, for a long while now, the plan to build a gigantic new movie and TV studio on the East Coast has been fast in motion. The goal was to have this huge facility similar to that of a the legendary Hollywood production studios that would allow the big time film and television producers out there a legitimate option to always shooting out West. It took quite a while to get things lined up, and changes had to be made in the state’s former tax and financial set-up to make it appealing enough, but all hurdles were cleared and the massive project was approved. The development is currently moving right along at its Plymouth, Massachusetts location, and the $500 Million Plymouth Rock Studios is heading straight for a Fall 2010 opening planned.
So what exactly will this brand new high-tech, completely “Green,” eco-friendly LEED studio complex offer to those who set up shop there for big projects? [...]

Daniel Craig To Star In New Jim Sheridan Thriller ‘Dream House’
Daniel Craig has been around for quite some time, but didn’t really catch eyes until 2002′s Road to Perdition. Since then, he’s appeared in movies like Layer Cake, Munich, The Golden Compass, and of course, as the latest and greatest James Bond in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Craig has now added a new job to his schedule with the announcement that he’ll star in the Universal Pictures and Morgan Creek psychological thriller, Dream House.
The movie will be directed by Jim Sheridan, the celebrated writer and director of critically acclaimed films like My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown, In the Name of the Father, The Boxer, and In America — three of which featured Daniel Day-Lewis, who’s well-known for choosing his roles very cautiously. He’s currently working on the film Black Mass, which tells the story of the infamous and elusive fugitive mafia godfather, Whitey Bulger. Sheridan has been nominated for an impressive six Academy Awards, but has yet to win one. [...]

[Updated] Check That: Brad Pitt Not Joining The Cast Of ‘Sherlock Holmes’
A huge rumor set fire to the ‘net yesterday, claiming that Brad Pitt had joined the cast of Guy Ritchie‘s Sherlock Holmes as suspiciously-missing Moriarty. The report came from London’s not-so-trustworthy tabloid, The Daily Mirror, and within hours, Warner Brothers had issued a statement denying the report.
No word yet on if the well-known villain will be cast at all in the movie. Considering it’s an origins movie and they have a villain in Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), one would assume that if Pitt (or someone like him) was cast as Moriarty, they would likely show up in Nick Fury fashion, at the end or after the credits, in order to set up the sequel. We already know that this has every intention of becoming a franchise, so it would make sense to do. Better yet, the statement issued by Warner Bros. confirms that they will be shooting some extra scenes for the movie, though they are still planning a Christmas Day 2009 release. So while the Brad Pitt report is completely false, it wouldn’t be shocking if they were putting together some kind of Moriarty introduction cameo. [...]

‘Avatar’ Day To Offer Up A Whole Lot More Than Just An IMAX Peek
Just this past weekend at San Diego Comic Con 2009, James Cameron made the mega-announcement that August 21, 2009 would be Avatar Day, and that fans would be able to head out to participating IMAX theaters to see 15 whole minutes of glorious 3-D footage from the upcoming movie (Read: SDCC 09: See 15 Minutes of James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ In 3D Imax For Free On August 21), which will be released on December 18, 2009. This gives movie-goers the chance to really see what the movie is all about and how it hopes to change the cinema experience as we presently know it.
Now comes details via a press release that there will indeed be a whole lot more to Avatar Day than just the 15-minute preview that was announced — in fact, a multitude of Avatar goodies are on the way on August 21!
For those of us who aren’t able to get our hands on tickets to the epic preview, the official trailer will in fact also be released on August 21. That’s right, every single one of us will be able to finally get a look at the movie, whether it’s in theaters on any type of screen, or even just online. Of course, it won’t look nearly as good on a little computer screen in 2-D, but it will give us a small idea of what to expect, in the very least. [...]

2010 Academy Awards To Include Ten Best Picture Nominees
In quite the unexpected move, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science has announced that next year’s 82nd Academy Awards ceremony will have a massive adjustment to it: the normal 5 Best Picture nominees will instead be 10 Best Picture nominees.
This is another apparent move for the Academy to try and bring in new viewers after their shake-up last year, bringing in Hugh Jackman to host instead of the usual comedian host (which I still personally prefer). As mentioned, the typical number of movies that were nominated each year was five, but way back in the early years of the Oscars, there were many more — sometimes as many as twelve, so this is a really a return to classic form. The last year that this format was used was in 1943, when Casablanca took the top prize.
This is shocking to me, but something that I’m pretty excited about seeing. You can’t help but think of all the movies in past years that people wanted to get a Best Picture nomination and didn’t; namely — using 2008 as an example — the animated features like Wall-E, the not-so-traditional contenders such as The Dark Knight, as well as the flat-out snubbed movies like The Wrestler. [...]
