‘Star Wars: Episode 7′ Will Most Likely Be An Original Story

eelyajekiM   |

Star Wars Header

After Disney made the massive purchase of Lucasfilm yesterday, Star Wars fans wondered where it all goes from here. Word that an Episode VII was hitting theaters in 2015 had fans wondering if they would see the continuation of the story of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. Much of their story has already been put into numerous books, graphic novels, and video games. In fact Timothy Zahn’s Dark Empire Trilogy – which take place six years after the events of the Empire falling and Luke being drawn into the dark side – could have been one of graphic novels adapted for the next Star Wars trilogy. Rumor For Your Thoughts: New ‘Skyrim’ DLC To Include Morrowind, Dragon Mounts

The Movie God   |

Skyrim Dragon Image

Whispers and wishes of a return to Morrowind as part of DLC content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have been floating around, usually from the mouths of fans of the original Xbox game, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, who wanted to revisit the land with the updated graphics we have today.

Bethesda actually releasing DLC that allowed you to return to Morrowind, however, never seemed likely. But today comes a new rumor with a little bit of substance to it that seems to indicate that the dream is not so far-fetched. [...]

Emily Blunt & Ruth Wilson Courted For Ms. Marvel In ‘The Avengers 2?’

eelyajekiM   |

Emily Blunt & Ruth Wilson

If there is one thing we shouldn’t be hearing about now, it’s the casting of vital roles in The Avengers 2. For one thing, it still way too early for anything like that to happen. But the Daily Mail, a source notoriously for concocting unsubstantiated rumors, reports that Marvel is courting Emily Blunt (Looper, The Wolfman, The Adjustment Bureau) and Ruth Wilson (Alice Morgan on BBC TV’s Luther). for the coveted role of Ms. Marvel – a character that is unconfirmed for the sequel.

It wouldn’t surprise me – or anyone else for that matter – that Joss Whedon would include a strong female character like Ms. Marvel in The Avengers 2, but until we get some hard evidence from let’s say, the people making The Avengers 2, we will just have to consider that this casting possibility is just a rumor [...]

Rumor For Your Thoughts: Could Viggo Mortensen Be Playing Dr. Strange In ‘Thor 2′?

The Movie God   |

Dr. Strange Image

Rumors are always fun. Sometimes they turn into something, sometimes they prove to be nothing at all. Today comes an intriguing little rumor (or rumors) involving the Marvel universe, but it’s not one that’s been created out of nowhere. This one might just have a bit of backing.

According to Roger Wardell, who’s been sharing supposed insider Marvel bits via Twitter—many of which have turned out to be accurate or make plenty of sense—Marvel is in negotiations with Viggo Mortensen for an unspecified role in one of their “Phase 2″ movies, which are the group of films that will lead to The Avengers 2. Possible Xbox 720 ‘Durango’ Development Kit Sells On eBay For Over $20K

The Movie God   |

Xbox 720 Durango Development Kit Image

Remember back in January when rumors started leaking out about Microsoft’s next generation follow-up to the Xbox 360, codenamed the “Durango” but generally known as the Xbox 720, unofficially? Back then, among the many technical rumors that may have excited or angered you, it was also said that development kits had been sent out to a bunch of game designers so that they could start playing around with the early version of their next system and start getting an idea for what kind of games they could make in the future.

Nothing has been confirmed (or denied) as of yet, but it appears that someone with some seriously strong (and ballsy) connections has acquired not one, but two of these development kits, and has decided to sell at least one on eBay. [...]

Peter Jackson Once Again Considering Expanding ‘The Hobbit’ Into A Trilogy?

eelyajekiM   |

The Hobbit

Despite just being one book, The Hobbit is being extended to two films: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again. This will allow director Peter Jackson to tell a more expansive and detailed story. But during the San Diego Comic-Con, reports of the film expanding to three films started to surface. This, of course, trickled down to everyone’s Twitter feed, and a variety of sources drilled Jackson during a press conference.

Jackson acknowledged that there were talks of turning The Hobbit into three films, but with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey being released this year, the film split would probably occur at The Hobbit: There and Back Again. [...]

Ryan Reynolds Confirmed For Lead In ‘Highlander’ Remake? Not So Fast…

The Movie God   |

Highlander

Back in May it was reported that Ryan Reynolds had entered into chats to take on the lead role of Connor MacLeod in the planned remake of Highlander being directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.

Not much has been heard since, but a couple of days ago word scattered around the ‘net seemed to indicate that Reynolds had officially signed on for the role. Some outlets reported it while many others did not, giving the news that unstable vibe. [...]

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Could Be Marvel’s Mystery Film

eelyajekiM   |

Guardians of the Galaxy

Marvel still has a vacant May 16th 2014 release on their slate. With Captain America 2 taking a very surprising April 4th 2014 release, there was some speculation that the film taking the May 2014 date would be either Guardians of the Galaxy, or Edgar Wright’s long-gestating Ant-Man.

Then came word that the the studio was working on a movie for Black Panther. [...]

3-Hour Director’s Cut Of ‘The Avengers’ Could Get A Theatrical Release This Summer

BAADASSSSS!   |

The Avengers

As if The Avengers hasn’t made enough money at the box office there is now a rumor floating around that Marvel is planning on re-releasing the movie into theaters towards the tail end of the summer, but in a version never before seen by the general public.

Writer-director Joss Whedon has stated in interviews that there would be around a half-hour of deleted scenes from the movie on the forthcoming Avengers Blu-ray set to be released on September 25. If the rumor is true that deleted footage could be making its way back into the film as part of a 3-hour-long director’s cut Whedon is possibly preparing for the Blu-ray that could hit the big screen this August [...]

Rumor For Your Thoughts: Matt Damon, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Costner To Join Tom Cruise In ‘Magnificent Seven’

The Movie God   |

The Magnificent Seven

Sometimes a rumor enters your eyespace that you feel has to be made up by someone who has far too much time on their hands and wanted to score some easy traffic for their site. Those are the rumors you scoff at and ignore, mumbling something no one will ever hear you say as you move on to other more reliable news sources. Then there’s the times where those rumors surface, and, no matter how fabricated they feel, must be shared with you the masses.

Last month we were surprised to find out that MGM (who’s trying to make a big comeback from near death with multiple remakes) was developing a new remake of the western classic (and remake in its own right of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai), The Magnificent Seven with Tom Cruise attached to star. [...]

Netflix In Early Talks With CBS About ‘Jericho’ Season 3; Is It ‘Firefly’s Turn Yet?

The Movie God   |

Jericho

Netflix is making a little hobby out of at least inquiring into bringing back popular shows that have been canceled.

Back in March we found out that they were in very early talks with FOX to continue the recently canceled Steven Spielberg-produced prehistoric drama, Terra Nova. No word yet on how those chats went or are going, but if it works out the show would join Netflix’s first successful resurrection, the very popular Arrested Development. [...]

Rumor Alert: The Daleks Return To ‘Doctor Who’; Which Ones? ALL OF THEM!

cGt2099   |

The Daleks Return To Doctor Who. Which Ones? ALL OF THEM!

It’s been a while since we’ve had a pure Dalek episode of Doctor Who, the previous being Victory Of The Daleks from Series 5 in 2010. As hinted in the recent teaser trailer for Series 7, the Daleks are coming back, and this time (according to rumor) they’re kicking off the season with episode one.

But the last time the Daleks had their own episode, a new archetype was revealed – a new design that wasn’t universally welcomed by fans – some scoffing at them as iDaleks or Power Ranger Daleks. Personally, I didn’t mind the new versions, but that’s hardly the point here.

So the question is, which Daleks will be in this upcoming episode? [...]

Rumor For Your Thoughts: Benedict Cumberbatch To Be The Master In ‘Doctor Who’?

cGt2099   |

Doctor Who

It seems that as soon as filming hits the ground for Doctor Who that the gossip floodgates open for the series. I’ve heard some doozies in my time, but this one (if real) would actually be quite interesting. Express.co.uk and Radio Times are reporting of rumors that Benedict Cumberbatch from Sherlock (and the forthcoming Star Trek 2 and The Hobbit) could have landed the role as The Master for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who.

Because Cumberbatch is celebrated for his Holmes role in “that other” Steven Moffat series, his name has popped up in the past as potentially appearing on Doctor Who [...]

Dan Aykroyd Talks Replacing Bill Murray and More About ‘Ghostbusters 3′

Cinemumra   |

Bill Murray

And now it’s time to hear the truth, straight from the horse’s mouth.

Empire recently chatted with writer and iconic comedic thespian Dan Aykroyd, who revealed a few interesting details about the much talked about Ghostbusters 3.

First, while he seemed upbeat about possibly seeing Rick Moranis return for this film, he said that we may not see Bill Murray back in the saddle as Venkman, but instead find his character re-written, to be played by a different actor. Think this franchise’s Bond. [...]

Update: Harrison Ford Not Aboard ‘Blade Runner’ Reboot?

Cinemumra   |

Hold on to your horses guys, don’t count your eggs before they hatch, apparently.

Over the weekend, rumors arose connecting none other than Harrison Ford to the upcoming remake/reboot of his classic Ridley Scott film, Blade Runner. Scott is once again directing this film, so while the rumor seemed valid, one couldn’t help but think that the volatile relationship between the two would keep this from actually happening. And now, that appears to actually be the case.

Deadline reports that Alcon Entertainment has debunked the rumor, one that literally lit the internet ablaze during Super Bowl weekend, basically stating that “there has been no discussion about it.” [...]
