Did you catch Betty White tonight in the Super Bowl ad for the NBC show The Voice? I know, she's awesome at everything.

But White isn't done with the Super Bowl just yet, though. The 90-year-old actress, who stars in the TV Land sitcom Hot In Cleveland, recorded a congratulatory message for the Super Bowl-winning New York Giants with a little warning about what to expect next year.

You can watch White's video message to the Giants here below [...]

OK, so there's not really a sequel for Moneyball already on the way, unfortunately, but the folks over at Jest (the new College Humor sister site) decided that there was a perfect sequel story to tell, and produced this faux trailer to prove its worth.

Moneyball stars Brad Pitt as Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane, who, along with the help of Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), come up with a radical new way to put a major league baseball team together with significantly limited financial means. So what better premise for a sequel than a team that has TOO much money to spend? And who better to base it on than the team we all love to hate—that's right...the New York Yankees!

You can check out the parody trailer for this completely non–existent movie, fittingly titled Too Much Moneyball, by clicking on over to the other side now. [...]

As the cliche goes, not many geeks will be found out there running marathons and taking part in other highly athletic events. But for those of you geeks who do like to compete, there's a new race that's just for you.

An company called Reed Street Productions has created Run For Your Lives, a new 5K race that mixes running, obstacles, and of course, flesh–eating zombies. It looks like it could be the same folks that created the feared Spartan Race, but it's unclear if they really did or not.

Continue reading on for more on the zombie race, where they'll be held, how they work, and to see a video promotion as well!

The Run For Your Lives race, again, is a 5K that adds obstacles and zombies to those boring old regular foot races. Runners will have flags (like flag football), which the zombies will be out to get. If you reach the finish line with a flag, you've survived (and are eligible for awards). There's even health bonuses along the way and multiple paths to the finish line, so there is a level of strategy involved. [...]

I think we're all in agreement that Christopher Nolan's upcoming trilogy–maker, The Dark Knight Rises, is one of the most exciting movies ever to be made. After the brilliance that was The Dark Knight and with the knowledge that Nolan won't be holding anything back with this being his last hurrah in the realms of Batman, we have every right to be optimistically ecstatic.

For those who don't know, the movie has been filming in Pittsburgh lately, with plenty of pics and videos showing up online as a result. And it appears that Nolan has more plans for the city than just using it as a filming location. According to reports, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, WR Hines Ward, and about a dozen teammates in total will take part in filming a football–related scene at the team's Heinz Field. It's unclear what exactly will go down in the scene, but the athletes will be turned into a Gotham City team and thousands of fans/extras will be brought in to create a game day atmosphere.

Any sports fan or fan of sports video games has likely heard of the feared Madden Curse. The "curse" comes from the belief that any National Football League athlete who appears on the cover of a Madden NFL video game would be struck with some form of injury or debilitative setback. This hasn't happened every single year, but it has happened often enough to cause many to become true believers.

Now The Wrap is reporting that the company behind the Madden franchise, Electronic Arts, is taking this phenomena to a new place with the development of a new feature comedy. EA Sports has never believed the curse to be true, but that doesn't mean they can't take advantage of its existence in popular culture.

According to the reports, the movie will be about a "former Madden video game champion" (it's unclear whether this means an ex-football champion or simply a champion of the game itself) who is forced to return to the game just as his face shows up on the cover, which might just open him up to the curse.

A new project that has been in the works for over a year now has been announced. The new venture sees god of comic book and superhero creationism, Stan Lee, joining forces with an unlikely ally, the National Hockey League.

Since the NHL had a lockout a while back, they're been fighting to slowly regain the loyalty of their fans while also finding ways to lure new fans to their sport. Some things have worked, some have not. Hockey has a faithful fanbase, but their numbers are still far below fellow top sports like football, baseball, and basketball. So why not call the man, the myth himself, Stan Lee?

And what have they been working on, you might ask? It's called The Guardian Project, and its aim is to create 30 brand new superheros in conjunction with the 30 different hockey teams and cities in the NHL. While each new superhero will be made to uniquely represent the hockey team and city they stand for, including with their special powers, they won't be specifically set in just the world of hockey alone.
One of the biggest disappointments of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada, was the fact that Rush, the country's greatest musical achievement, was not part of the opening or closing ceremonies. Yes, William Shatner and Neil Young were there, but c'mon, where the hell was Rush?! Bad move, Canada, [I love you, but] bad move.

The next Olympics will be the Summer games in London, England, in 2012. The options for musical choices is massive, but music fans are already voicing their opinions on which act should be part of the ceremonies. One in particular are Iron Maiden fans (and I happen to be one of them), who are joining the Facebook group IRON MAIDEN to open the 2012 London Olympic Games in hopes of getting the British heavy metal band to open the games. As of this writing, there's already over 36,000 people who've joined the group. There's also a FB download group requesting that fans download Iron Maiden's "Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner," with lyrics fitting for Summer Olympics, on July 19, 2010 in support of getting the band to open the games..

And check out the image that was created for the groups of the band's mascot Eddie, taken from the classic "Trooper" art, holding the Olympic torch against the backdrop of an Olympic track. (That's the image here at top.) Just think of having something like that on a T-shirt!!! [...]

For those who are unaware, director and fanboy favorite Kevin Smith is a major fan of the sport of hockey, and that makes him even cooler than he already was.

After his upcoming movie Cop Out -- the first movie that he did not also write and produce -- comes and goes, it looks like his next film will be a hockey film called Hit Somebody.

While talking hockey with NHL.com recently, Smith revealed that he had found his leading man, named Buddy, and it will be Seann William Scott.

Seann, for me, was the key into the character,

This dude has something in him that you can just see hangs so well on Buddy. He's got some pain that's going to work out well. More importantly he has so much love in his heart. Seann Scott is such an ebullient, happy person who's just happy to be there. And on (Cop Out) you could see it. On our set the guy is just so delighted to be working, to be making people laugh. But he's always dismissed as Stifler. This is his chance to shine. [...]

Earlier this week it was announced that friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were about to close a first-look deal with Warner Brothers that could see the duo working together a lot more, just like the good ol' days when they were winning Oscars for movies like Good Will Hunting.

According to Deadline Hollywood, a project at WB entitled The Trade -- that has already had the attention for Affleck and Damon for a long while now -- is beginning to move forward with Affleck already set to direct the film and both actors considering starring in it as well.

The Trade tells the story of the 1973 sex scandal involving the New York Yankees, where two players -- Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich -- fell in love with each other's wives and decided to simply trade. If they decided to star in the movie, Affleck would play Peterson, and Damon would of course play Kekich. [...]

Tonight was the big game, and to sum things up, booze and gumbo be flowin' strong in the French Quarters of New Orleans tonight.

The obvious big draw of the Super Bowl is the game itself, but right behind that it the unveiling of some of the best commercials you'll see. Recent years have been an incredible disappointment for the advertisement industries, and it has seemed like very few companies have anyone working for them with fresh and funny ideas. So would this year be the year when commercials rose back to their former glory, or would failure loom once again?

The short answer is no, no there was not any glory. The majority of this year's commercials, like recent years, were utter garbage, and that's just sad and honest truth. The only real bright spots of the year came from the always-popular Bud Lite ads, and Doritos made a strong showing themselves. There were a couple of decent ones scattered around in between these, but that's about all there is to it. You can head over to SPIKE to check out all of the commercials! [...]

They may be the best high school basketball team ever. He may have had the best high school basketball player ever. Akron, Ohio's St. Vincent-St. Mary won the proverbial basketball lottery when they got LeBron James and his boyhood friends to attend their school. From humble beginnings, future NBA superstar James, along with childhood friends Dru Joyce, Sian Cotton, and Willie McGee, all began a journey that would take them from local fame to national acclaim. The "fab four" were later joined by Romeo Travis in their sophomore year and the five fused their talents and, with the help of a dedicated coach, rewrote Ohio basketball history.

More Than a Game is a very well made documentary that keeps the viewer's interest throughout with a sly use of visual effects, editing, and original music. Director Kristopher Belman was able to capture some amazingly candid footage by following the St. V basketball team during James' senior season and with the aid of first-hand accounts by the players themselves, photographs, and home videos, the viewer follows these young men from middle school all the way up until the last days of high school and it's a remarkable journey [...]

One of the greatest joys of having Barack Obama as President of the United States is having a bona fide geek leading the country. The Pres is into comic books and Star Trek, and has even thrown up the Vulcan "live long and prosper" salute. When he was still a US Senator, he had on his website a photo of himself in front of a Superman statue. This is a man after our own hearts.

Now, the geeky Obama strikes again with a recent photo-op on the White House lawn where he's wielding a toy lightsaber after a fencing demonstration. The event was held yesterday to promote Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympic Games [...]
