Superhero “Fathers” Walk Their Children To School
Maximus Prime   |

Batdad by Andry Shango

Not all superheroes are parents, but many take on parental roles with their younger sidekicks – some more than others. In honor of Father’s Day, here is a small collection of heroes – not all super – simply walking with their “kids.” The beautiful illustrations come from the very talented Andry “Shango” Rajoelina.

Take a look as these “fathers” walk their children to school and then head over to Andry’s deviantart page to view all of his pictures. Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there!

Happy Father’s Day From ‘Game Of Thrones’

Game Of Thrones Father's Day Roose Bolton Ramsey Bolton

Tonight sees the Season 4 Finale of Game Of Thrones. With today being Father’s Day, HBO has released a special video for the occasion.

Aside from Ned Stark and now surprisingly Roose Bolton (who recently legitimized his bastard son Ramsay), the series has seen mainly fathers who are pretty damn terrible: Robert Baratheon, who didn’t even sire the children he basically ignored; Jaime Lannister, who is the baby-daddy, but couldn’t act like it; Walder Frey, who has fathered hordes of children he uses as chess pieces in the game of thrones; Balon Greyjoy, who let his only living son Theon be taken as hostage by his enemies and then denied Theon upon his return home; Tywin Lannister, who is plotting the death of his own son; and of course, everyone’s father, Craster, who weds and beds his own daughters and then sacrifices his infant sons to The White Walkers.

Check out the video here below and be extra thankful today that none of these guys is your father.

It’s Not Wise To Upset A Wookiee: The Wisdom Of Being Raised On ‘Star Wars’
Waerloga69   |

Star Wars logo

Here we are celebrating May The 4th, also known as Star Wars Day, once again. And I was going to try and write up something based on the new movie coming out or something cool about the cast…but I decided to go a different route. Today, I’m going to tell you about some of the most influential Star Wars-related things that have occurred in my life, starting with the original movie.

I was six when the first Star Wars film hit theaters and, as we all know, that’s a highly impressionable age. The film amazed me, as I’m sure it did virtually everyone. But the true influence at that time was the line of toys that accompanied it. My first three figures were Darth Vader, R2-D2, and C-3PO. I remember being angry that the local stores were sold out when we were out shopping, but my ever-awesome Aunt Cathy managed to find those three action figures somewhere and gave them to me for my birthday about a month after the movie came out. It was the beginning of 35 years of collecting, though I had no idea of that at the time.

May the 4th: ‘Star Wars’ Mos Eisley Cantina Videos

Star Wars Mos Eisley Cantina band auditions College Humor

For May The 4thStar Wars Day — YouTube recently released videos for their “May the 4th be with YouTube” initiative. This year, YouTube Space LA and Lucasfilm gave four YouTube Channels the opportunity to shoot and produce an original video inspired by Star Wars on a Mos Eisley Cantina replica set. You can watch those videos that were created here below.

I probably don’t need to tell you all this, but the Mos Eisley Cantina is seen in the first Star Wars (as I like to call it), now known as Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope (I do not call it this). When Ben “Obi-Wan” Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, and the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 go to Mos Eisley (located on Luke’s home planet Tattooine), Kenobi says of the spaceport, “There’s never been a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” The group goes to the Mos Eisley Cantina to look for a transport to the Alderaan system (although, the droids end up having to wait outside, since the bar doesn’t “serve their kind”) and that’s where Luke first meets Millennium Falcon pilot Han Solo and his co-pilot, the wookiee Chewbecca. The Cantina is also the setting of the controversial showdown between Han Solo and the bounty hunter Greedo.
