Bruce Campbell’s ‘Hail To The Chin: Further Confessions Of A B-Movie Actor’ Book Signing
Dr. Zaius   |

Bruce Campbell Book Signing Cover

Last week, I got a chance to interview Bruce Campbell over the phone. Amongst our topics of conversation were his new memoir, Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B-Movie Actor, a sequel to his 2002 book, If Chins Could Kill, and his upcoming 35-city book tour. Well, yesterday in New Jersey the tour commenced, and I was there with my son to meet the man, the chin, the legend, Bruce Campbell and get my copy of his book. The book signing took place at Bookends, located at 211 E. Ridgewood Ave, Ridgewood, New Jersey.

Interview With Bruce Campbell of ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’
Dr. Zaius   |

Ash vs Evil Dead, Season 2 Episode 8

Who is Bruce Campbell? Seriously, this was a question I had to answer for my mother! Bruce Campbell is the King of the B-Actors, a true modern renaissance man. His IMDb page lists over a hundred credits. He’s a producer and director, as well as the author of a New York Times bestseller. But to fans around the world, the answer to the above question is simple: he’s Ash Williams, the chainsaw-handed lothario from the Evil Dead franchise. He’s also my favorite actor, someone I proudly waited 4 hours to meet at a horror convention, and whom I got to interview last year while on vacation with my family inside of Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando. That interview occurred over the phone in the quietest place I could find in a theme park known for loud attractions. A year later, lightning struck a second time. I was privileged to get to interview Mr. Bruce Campbell this month, and had time to discuss his upcoming book, as well as upcoming Season 3 of the Starz hit series Ash vs Evil Dead.

Check out the interview here below.

‘To Hell and Back’: Trailer For Documentary About Jason Voorhees Actor Kane Hodder Released
The Movie God   |

Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th

Every fan of the Friday the 13th slasher series has their favorite Jason Voorhees. For many, myself included, it’s always been Kane Hodder.

A documentary about the man himself is on the way titled To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story. The doc tells Kane’s story, beginning with his difficult earlier years and leading to his landing the iconic role of Jason and other Hollywood roles. It also features interviews with Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street), who faced off with Voorhees as Freddy Krueger in 2003’s Freddy vs. Jason (though not with Hodder, sadly); Bruce Campbell, who many fans wanted to see join the Freddy and Jason fight in a sequel as Ash from the Evil Dead movies (a battle that did happen in comic book form); Adam Green, who directed Hodder as Victor Crowley in the Hatchet movies after he moved on from the Friday the 13th movies; and more.

Click on over to the other side to read more about the movie and check out a trailer.

‘Ash vs. The Army of Darkness’ Comic Celebrates Film’s 25th Anniversary
Dr. Zaius   |

Ash vs The Army of Darkness 00 Cover A Bradshaw banner

I think if you told Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell back in the late 70s that the uber low-budget horror film they were working on would still be relevant to pop culture four decades later, they would’ve probably turned the blood hose on you. But alas, the allure of Ashley J. Williams and is just too strong. Thirty-six years after the original Evil Dead film and 30 years after its classic sequel Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn, and 25 years after its ridiculous horror-comedy third installment Army of Darkness, Ash is still trucking along killing deadites and fighting the Necronomicon on Starz network’s Ash vs Evil Dead, which was renewed for a third season. Since 2004, Dynamite Entertainment has been the home of the Ash vs. The Army of Darkness comic book series, so in honor of Army Of Darkness‘s silver anniversary, Dynamite is releasing a special all-new series starting with a #0 issue at the “S–Mart Special” price of only $0.99.

Still Groovy: Happy 30th Birthday To ‘Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn’
Dr. Zaius   |

Evil Dead II

In the late 70s a group of friends got together in Morristown, TN, to create the low-budget gorefest to end all low-budget gorefests, The Evil Dead. Released in 1981, the film became a cult classic on home video and suddenly people knew the names of Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and of course Bruce Campbell. Six years later, on a budget ten times that of the original, the gang returned to the cabin in the woods and outdid themselves, crafting a half remake/half sequel that broke genre conventions and turned a one-off cult film into a now 5-decade-old franchise. The film was Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn, and it was released in theaters 30 years ago this week. (It’s available now on Blu-ray.)

Spoilers below for the season finale of Ash vs Evil Dead

Oh what a strange trip it’s been! When season 2 of Ash vs Evil Dead started, Ash (Bruce Campbell) thought everything was peachy keen, holed up in his personal paradise, Jacksonville. Soon Ruby (Lucy Lawless) was calling for his and the Ghostbeaters’ help. Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo (Ray Santiago) went along for the ride back to Ash’s hometown of Elk’s Grove, Michigan where Ash had to deal with both the new evils of Baal (Joel Tobeck), and a hometown that viewed him as a murderous pariah nicknamed Ashy Slashy. This season has provided some unforgettable moments. Ash’s trip up a butthole of a corpse… yeah, never thought I’d type that sentence. Ash’s reunion with his surly dad (Lee Majors), Pablo’s terrifying transformation into the Necronomicon, Kelly’s brawl with the Ashy Slashy puppet in the asylum… what a tremendous season!!! And of course, the saddest moment in the show’s short history, when Pablo was sliced in half and killed as he sent Baal back to Hell. Last week Ash forced Ruby to send them back in time to right before the original films, so Ash can destroy the book and prevent any bad stuff from happening. Of course, that is easier said than done and soon it’s an Evil Dead 2 redux as Ash battles Henrietta (Ted Raimi)…

Starring Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, Lucy Lawless, Samara Weaving, Indiana Evans, Ido Drent, Rebekkah Farrell, Joel Tobeck
Starz
Air date: Sunday, December 4, 2016

Spoilers below for Ash vs Evil Dead

Last week on Ash vs Evil Dead: It’s hard to even type this… but Pablo (Ray Santiago) is dead. After Ash (Bruce Campbell) played Baal by acting all psycho-slasher last week, Pablo used the power of the Necronomicon that was inside him to banish Baal (Joel Tobeck) once and for all. But not before Baal let loose one last swipe with his raptor-like talon, slicing poor Pablo in half. I nearly cried at everyone’s reaction, especially Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) who went through another hellish episode. The range of emotions was crazy as she killed a teenage girl demon, confessed that killing to the girl’s mother, fought off the perverted puppet of Ashy Slashy, before having to watch her bestie and fellow Ghostbeater die a hero. I don’t know what AvED can do to top that episode, and frankly, I’m scared to find out how they try.

Spoilers below for Ash vs Evil Dead

Last week and every week of this season of Ash vs Evil Dead has pushed the bounds of decency and splattered the screen with ALL the bodily functions. After having to face his long-dead sister Cheryl (Ellen Sandweiss), Ash (Bruce Campbell) was locked up in Baal’s crazy vision. Ash dealt with talking puppets, and faced his friends… who weren’t his friends, but rather fellow inmates. In what were perhaps the best acting performances in the show’s history, Campbell and Dana DeLorenzo (Kelly) shined through the darkness of the world Baal (Joel Tobeck) created. In the end, Ash agreed to help Baal destroy the Necronomicon… just one problem, Pablo (Ray Santiago) is becoming the Necronomicon. Is Ash seriously a defeated man, or is this his way of outsmarting ultimate evil?…

“Even a big bitch cockroach like you should know… never, but never, fuck with the King.”

From writer-director Don Coscarelli (Phantasm, John Dies At The End), 2002’s Bubba Ho-Tep is one of the craziest horror comedies you’ll ever see. When mysterious deaths plague a Texas retirement home, it’s up to Elvis Presley (Bruce Campbell) and President John F. Kennedy (Ossie Davis) to battle a 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy dressed like a cowboy.

An elderly man (Campbell) resides at the Shady Rest Retirement Home where he tells anyone that will listen that he’s “The King” himself, Elvis Presley. He explains that during the ’70s, he grew tired of fame and switched places with Sebastian Haff, an Elvis impersonator. It was Haff who died on the toilet in 1977, while he – the real Elvis – lived a quiet life pretending to be himself. Twenty years after a hip injury ended his impersonator career, Elvis is living in a retirement home with cancerous growth on his “pecker.”
