The Movie God   |

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Image

E3 2014 was jam-packed with video game previews, as was expected, but one game not spotlighted much—at least not publicly—was Hideo Kojima‘s upcoming sequel Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. A new cinematic trailer for the game was released during E3, but the good stuff, the gameplay footage, was shown only behind closed doors.

Now, a week or so later, Kojima took part in a livestream in which the 30-minute gameplay demo shown at E3 was shared with the rest of the world. You can check it out below.

E3 2014: World War I Game ‘Valiant Hearts’ Trailer
The Movie God   |

Ubisoft's Valiant Hearts

Many games were presented at E3 2014—some looking intense; some looking scary; some looking visually stunning; and some looking like a hell of a lot fun. But none looked quite as beautifully depressing as Valiant Hearts: The Great War.

The game is set during World War I, mixing exploration, action, and puzzles in a 2D adventure. It’s inspired by letters written during the Great War, and you’ll relive historical battles playing as four different characters joined by a faithful canine companion.

You can watch the trailer for Valiant Hearts below.

E3 2014: First Look At ‘The Legend Of Zelda’ On Nintendo’s Wii U
The Movie God   |

The Legend of Zelda on Wii U

Another upcoming game coming for the Wii U is a new title in The Legend of Zelda series arriving sometime in 2015.

While it’s not much, a brief preview of the new game was shown at Nintendo’s digital E3 2014 event. Basically the video gives you an idea of just how big the open-world map you’ll get to explore as Link will be. It’s not Skyrim or anything, but as far as Wii U games go it’s a natural progression Zelda fans have likely craved for a long time now.

You can check out the Legend of Zelda Wii U teaser video below.

Homefront: The Revolution Announcement Trailer

Recently we saw the cinematic announcement trailer for the sequel to the 2011 video game Homefront, which is titled Homefront: The Revolution. The original was developed by Kaos Studios and published by THQ before the latter went under, leaving the property to be acquired by Crytek and Deep Silver, who tasked Crytek UK with making the sequel.

As expected, the game was at E3 2014. A gameplay demo for Revolution was presented at the convention, and it looks surprisingly good in its new hands. This could be one to keep an eye on, but whether or not the final product will win players over remains to be seen. Be sure to head below to watch the gameplay demo.

Sunset Overdrive Image

One of the more visually attractive upcoming next-gen (or current-gen, depending on who you ask) titles is Sunset Overdrive, an over-the-top third-person action game bursting with lots of vivid colors. We saw a gameplay video not too long ago, and now a new video with an entertaining cinematic and some gameplay has come out of E3 2014.

The game comes from Insomniac Games, the makers of the PlayStation exclusive franchises Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, and Resistance, who have jumped to the other team with this new Xbox One exclusive.

The game is set in 2027, when a powerful new energy drink has turned consumers into mutants, leaving an employee of the company who released the drink to clean up the mess.

Yoshi's Woolly World

Another standout from Nintendo’s digital presentation at E3 2014 was a game titled Yoshi’s Woolly World, and upcoming side-scrolling adventure for the Wii U.

The game, which is something of a spiritual successor to Kirby’s Epic Yarn, takes the Yoshi character and gives him and his world a complete yarn makeover, transforming it into a world that looks like it was hand-knitted by Etsy’s finest craftmasters.

You can see a trailer for Yoshi’s Woolly World as well as the developers’ story behind the game below.

E3 2014: Open-Universe Exploration Game ‘No Man’s Sky’ Gameplay Trailers
The Movie God   |

No Man's Sky E3 Trailer

Back in December we were first introduced to one of the most ambitious video game projects ever, No Man’s Sky, an open-universe procedural exploration game that starts every player on a different planet an let’s you go wherever you want to, with an endless amount of places to visit—so many places that of everyone playing you could be the first one to discover certain planets or species or landmarks (attaching your name to it as the discoverer for other visitors to see), and even crossing paths with other explorers is a rare occurrence.

The game sounded so ambitious in fact, it seemed way too good to be true. Especially with only a few people working on it! But the small team at Hello Games (they’re up from four in December to a whopping ten employees now) was in attendance at E3 2014, and announced that the game would be coming to consoles first on Sony’s PlayStation 4. They also brought with them some new gameplay trailers for us to watch in awe, hoping the game will be everything it’s said to be.

You can check out the new No Man’s Sky gameplay trailers below, as well as a video of Hello Games founder Sean Murray talking about the game.
