eelyajekiM   |

The Zookeeper's Wife

Looking at the first trailer for The Zookeeper’s Wife, one might assume that film was getting ready for the awards’ season. In truth, it’s going to be released months after the awards season has ended. But that shouldn’t take away from the message of the film, especially now.

That’s because the film is based on the true story of Antonina Zabinska (portrayed by two-time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain) who with her family cares for Zoo animals in 1939 Poland. When the country is invaded by Nazis, she takes it upon herself to hide Jews and smuggle them out of the country, which in turn puts her and her entire family at risk.
