Video: ‘Blair Witch’-Style ‘Friday The 13th’ Found Footage Fan Film
The Movie God   |

Friday the 13th Found Footage Short

A Friday the 13th: The Game is on the way, but the next movie in the long-running Friday the 13th horror franchise has had trouble finding a path to existence. The last movie in the franchise was the 2009 reboot, and various possibilities have surfaced since then in search of the next Jason Voorhees story to tell.

These have included Friday the 13th in a wintry setting, applying the popular (with some folks) found footage format, and doing another movie with no Jason at all. But ultimately, none of these have worked out. And probably for the best, as over-thinking a franchise such as this can be dangerous.

While we await the next movie in the franchise, a fan has created a Blair Witch Project-style Friday the 13th short film to show us what a found footage movie might have looked like. And though found footage may not be so appealing for a feature, a fan-made short like this is fun enough to pass a little time. You can check out the short below.

‘Friday The 13th: The Game’ Gets A “Killer” New Trailer
The Movie God   |

Friday the 13th: The Game #1

For PAX East 2017, developer Gun Media has released a new trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game.

The trailer is presented as a music video for a song called “Killer” by Crazy Lixx, and, fitting to its name, the video is incredibly violent. You know the words to this song. If you’re at all offended by digital fictional characters causing harm or being harmed in lots and lots of gruesome ways, probably best to steer clear.

For the rest of you, do prepare yourself for some classic Jason Voorhees brutality and click on over to the other side to watch the new trailer.

Paramount Shuts Down New ‘Friday The 13th,’ Pulls ‘World War Z 2’ From Schedule

Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th

A major studio changing a scheduled release is common practice within the industry. But when it comes to pulling a major tentpole sequel off the schedule, that is something to worry about.

A new report confirms Paramount has pulled World War Z 2 and Friday the 13th of their scheduled release, with the latter later reported to be shut down completely. Both films were a part of Michael Bay‘s Platinum Dunes production company. However, they have announced a release date for Darren Aronofsky‘s mother!, starring Jennifer Lawrence. More on the story below.

Friday the 13th: The Game Menu

We’ve seen some peeks at Friday the 13th: The Game in the past, but nothing really substantial. Thankfully the closed beta for the game has now kicked off, which means lots of great looks at the game.

Below you’ll find two of these lengthy looks at the game. The first is 17 minutes of camp counselor gameplay footage. The second is 15 minutes of Jason Voorhees gameplay. This is the beta, so remember the game is not yet finished. Still, it’s great getting a nice long look at it and people actually playing it.

It’s not much, but now comes a video sharing what the game’s beta splash menu looks like. The video shares a few different views of Jason Voorhees—close enough to guarantee death for any camp counselor who wanders too near to the Crystal Lake killer—along with some fittingly intense music.

‘Friday The 13th’ Game: Single Player Confirmed; Release Delayed
The Movie God   |

Friday the 13th: The Game

I’ve always been excited about Friday the 13th: The Game. But at the same time, I don’t play a whole lot of co-op games. Some kind of single-player option has been on the table for a while but not guaranteed.

Thankfully a single-player option has now been confirmed. Also confirmed is Tommy Jarvis as a playable character and a Packanack Lodge map. But the good news also comes with a bit of bad news. Because the final release will now be bigger, more time is needed to finish it. The game was planned to release sometime soon in the fall of 2016. Now the original multiplayer will arrive in early 2017, with the single-player planned for summer of 2017.

You can find the full announcement below.

E3 2016: ‘Friday The 13th’ Gameplay Demo
The Movie God   |

Friday the 13th: The Game #1

We’ve seen little peeks and glimpses of Friday the 13th: The Game over the past year, but now the first real look at gameplay has finally arrived.

For those unfamiliar with it, it’s a co-op game in which a group of players take on the role of camp counselors trying to escape the iconic Jason Voorhees, who is also controlled by a player. The world premiere gameplay demo released by developer Gun Media kicks off with Jason tracking down—and brutally dispatching of—some counselors. It then shows what it looks like to be a counselor trying to escape or hide.

Geek Peek: First ‘Friday The 13th’ Gameplay Footage
The Movie God   |

Friday the 13th: The Game

After raising over $820,000 in its successful Kickstarter campaign, the first peek at gameplay from Friday the 13th: The Game has been shared online for all to see.

It’s not much, but the gameplay preview offers a bit of a taste of what it might be like to try to escape the legendary Crystal Lake killer, Jason Voorhees. While this is exciting, it has to be kept in mind that this is very early footage to test some things out, and a lot will change before the final product is released to the masses.

Kickstarter Spotlight: ‘Friday The 13th: The Game’ With Kane Hodder, Sean S. Cunningham, Tom Savini
The Movie God   |

Friday the 13th: The Game #1

A while back I was reading about a video game called Slasher Vol.1: Summer Camp from Gun Media, an Evolve-style online co-op game inspired by Friday the 13th in which you either play as one of the characters trying not to be killed by a mask-wearing serial killer…or you play AS the mask-wearing serial killer. Though not a very big fan of these online only co-op games, I was very interested in learning more about it as a huge fan of horror and especially the Friday the 13th flicks. Then came word early this year that another Evolve-style co-op game was coming that was actually based on Friday the 13th and featured Jason Voorhees instead of just being inspired by them. At the time it was revealed that a game developer was working on the game, but it wasn’t revealed who.

Well, as it turns out, these two projects are now one in the same. They’ve not only put together a Kickstarter campaign to help raise funds for the game, simply titled Friday the 13th: The Game, but they also have alums of the franchise working on the game as well including Sean S. Cunningham, Tom Savini, Harry Manfredini, and my personal favorite Jason (who I’ve had the honor of personally being “choked” by like so many other fans have) back as the character for the first time in 14 years, Kane Hodder. You can read much more about the project and watch the Kickstarter video and announcement trailer below.
