Minority Report 101-12

Minority Report
Season 1 Episode 1: “Pilot”

Written and created by Max Borenstein
Starring Stark Sands, Meagan Good, Wilmer Valderrama, Nick Zano, Daniel London, Laura Regan, Zhane Hall, Li Jun Li
FOX

Steven Spielberg took a Philip K. Dick story and a Kubrick-style vision, to craft an amazing sci-fi action film in 2002. His criminally underappreciated Minority Report starred Tom Cruise as an police officer in the futuristic “pre-crime” division, a group that stops murders before they happen, thanks to the visions of three precognitive siblings. When Cruise himself is accused, a conspiracy is discovered that brings pre-crime crashing down. Now, FOX is bringing Minority Report to the small screen, picking up 10-years after pre-crime has shut down, and focusing on the lives of the now adult and free pre-cogs Dash (Stark Sands), Agatha (Laura Regan), and Arthur (Nick Zano).

A few spoilers ahead, beware!

Minority Report Characters Cast Header

Minority Report, the new FOX series this fall, will bring Precrime back to the forefront of our minds. Based on the 2002 film with Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell, the series picks up 10 years later, in a world that relies on tech, rather than precogs. But precog Dash (Stark Sands) finds it hard to shut out the visions.

Check out the clips, cast photos, and synopsis below.

Minority Report: Stark Sands

Steven Spielberg is probably the greatest cinematic director of the last 40 years, a two-time Oscar winner for Best Director, and creator of some of most memorable films in history including JAWS, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, and E.T. So it’s understandable and almost excusable when one of his best films lived in relative anonymity for years… until now.

The film is 2002’s Minority Report. Tom Cruise starred as Detective John Anderton of the futuristic pre-crime division. Using three “pre-cogs” (children born with the ability to see murders before they take place) they have virtually wiped out violent crime. Of course that’s until a conspiracy unfolds to frame Anderton and leads to the end of pre-crime. The film, based on a story by sci-fi genius Philip K. Dick (did he write EVERY sci-fi story!?!?) is action packed and features amazing special effects but also is poignant and asks serious questions. The acting is also great — it’s Cruise at his best — and featured an Oscar-worthy supporting performance from Samantha Morton. Now, executive producer/writer Max Borenstein and director Mark Mylod are bringing Minority Report as a series to Fox and hopefully re-igniting interest in the under-appreciated classic film.

Spoilers ahead for Season 5 of Game Of Thrones…

Last week’s Game Of Thrones, Episode 5.2 “The House Of Black and White”, saw Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) arrive to the House Of Black and White in Braavos in hopes of starting her training to become one of the Faceless Men, while her older sister Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) was traveling with Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), but to where she did not know – only that it would be far away from Cersei’s clutches. That also meant away from Brienne of Tarth and her squire Podrick, who’ve come to protect her. Meanwhile, back in Kings Landing, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) promised his sister and one true love Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) that he’d rescue their daughter Myrcella, who is living in Dorne, betrothed to Prince Trystane, nephew to the late Oberyn Martell’s – The Red Viper, who met a horrible end at the hand of The Mountain in Season 4. Over at The Wall, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) was voted Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, while Stannis Baratheon (operating as King of Westeros, with his own followers) offered him the thing he’s wanted most — to be legitimized as Ned Stark’s son and become Jon Stark. In Pentos, Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and the eunuch Varys (Conleth Hill) planned to join forces with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), who is residing in Meereen where she’s under attack from the Sons of the Harpy who oppose her rule.
