Last time on Gotham, Jerome Valeska (Cameron Monoghan) encouraged mayhem in the city as the lights went out and the crazies followed. He went after Bruce (David Mazouz), taking him to a bloody carnival. Bruce managed to get in a bunch of punches, and then Jim (Ben McKenzie) punched his face off, literally. Bruce vowed, “I will not kill,” because he’s Batman. Jim’s Uncle Frank (James Remar) was in the Court of Owls, who were training the doppelgänger. After toying with his love the entire episode, Nygma (Cory Michael Smith) shot Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) and pushed him into the harbor.

Bruce (David Mazouz) went back home after Alfred (Sean Pertwee) told him that Lucius Fox (Chris Chalk) got into his dad’s computer. Selina (Camren Bicondova) was upset. Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) found out that his dad was murdered by his wife, so he killed her children and fed them to her. He’s back!!! Barbara (Erin Richards) was released from Arkham and showed up at Jim’s door. Surprise!

Last week on Gotham 1.12 “What the Little Bird Told Him” (spoilers!!!!), Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) rolled the dice with his and Harvey’s (Donal Logue) careers, as he guaranteed they would bring in the Arkham escapee Gruber to the Commissioner. He, in turn, only gave them 24 hours or they would be assigned to Arkham forever. This “electrifying” episode also had Fish Mooney’s (Jada Pinkett-Smith) plan blow up in her face as Falcone (John Dorman) remembered what he had forgotten in the face of Liza’s betrayal. Penguin’s (Robin Lord Tayor) revenge has come to gleeful fruition.
