Julia’s (Stella Maeve) baby was exorcised at a price and Fillory filled its coffers.

Last time on The Magicians, Quentin (Jason Ralph) tried to summon Niffin Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley), first via interpretive dance, and then with a spell with her dad. That failed as did the attempt with her mother. He discovered that Alice isn’t dead, just living in the tattoo on his back. Prince Ess from Loria kidnaped the castle once Margo (Summer Bishil) rejected his order of giving him half the wellspring and then marriage. She slept with him and mulled the offer until Penny (Arjun Gupta) showed them that it was a trick. She declared war on Loria. Julia found a woman who also had Raynard’s baby because of rape, and she chained Julia up. Kady (Jade Tailor) saved her and they stole the creature, a Haxenpaxen, who was chained too shielding the lady’s whereabouts. Once gone, Raynard found her and killed her.

Last week on The Magicians, it was the showcase showdown for the Beast (Charles Mesure) and Reynard (Mackenzie Astin), and everything got totally messed up… except for one super heroic sacrifice by Alice (Olivia Taylor Dudley). Marina (Kacey Rohl), Julia (Stella Maeve), and the Beast got Reynard right where they wanted him, but then Penny (Arjun Gupta) swooped in and stole the beast (and Julia by accident). Marina was left alone with Reynard, and he literally chewed her up and spit her out. Back in Fillory, Ember (Dominic Burgess) took a dump in the wellspring, and the gang fought the Beast. Alice let herself be consumed so she could kill him, and Quentin (Jason Ralph) had to release his fire demon on her to prevent her from destroying Eliot and Margo (Hale Appleman, Summer Bishil).

Last week on The Magicians, everyone who had died, now lived. Penny (Arjun Gupta) got his hands reattached, but he was such an ass about it, that the guy put the whammy on them. Eliot (Hale Appleman) was coronated king, and picked Margo, Alice, and Quentin (Summer Bishil, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Jason Ralph) as his fellow royals. Julia and the Beast (Stella Maeve, Charles Mesure) teamed up (at knifepoint) to track Reynard. He likes her.

Last time on The Magicians, the whole gang made it to Fillory, fulfilling Q’s lifelong wish. Q and Julia (Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve) went via 1942 following a young Jane Chatwin (Rose Liston). After marveling at the beauty, they ended up in the books saving her from a trap. They ran into old Jane Chatwin, who poofed them to a modern day Fillory (which looked like a desolate forest-y slum). There they reunited with the rest who had found the right fountain, and set out to retrieve the specialty god-killing knife they ordered 74 years ago. The knife was still there, but the price was marriage of his daughter of the real king… who turned out to be Eliot (Hale Appleman). Except… nobody could hold the knife – not enough power. They found Ember (Dominic Burgess) who gave them his magical power semen. Blech… And as a favor, he lifted the fog of Julia’s memory. Turns out, she was raped and her friends were killed by Reynard the Fox (Mackenzie Astin). Marina (Kacey Rohl) helped her clean it up. Alice drank the semen (blech), and they confronted the beast, who quickly killed Alice, Eliot, and Margo (Summer Bishil), and sliced off Penny’s (Arjun Gupta) hands. Julia put the knife to the Beast’s (Charles Mesure) throat, wanting to deal. She saved Q but took off with the Beast!
