eelyajekiM   |

Terminator: Genisys

Though James Cameron has his hands full working on those Avatar sequels, he still finds the time to work on other projects. Even if some of those other projects like Battle Angel had to be handed off to a new filmmaker. Well, now you can add a Terminator trilogy to the “will he, won’t he?” list. That’s right, Cameron wants to see a new Terminator trilogy. More on the story below.

Future Of The ‘Terminator’ Franchise In Question

Terminator Genisys Header Image

Terminator Genisys was supposed to be the film to help revive the franchise into the mega-blockbuster one that it was known for. But nearly three weeks after its release, the film continues to struggle at the domestic box office, and is only faring well overseas. The fifth installment in the franchise has grossed $278 million at the box office. But when taking into account the $155 million production budget, and the promotional budget, it would seem that Terminator Genisys is just another disaster for the franchise and the studio.

Paramount has scheduled two Terminator sequels to be released in 2017 and 2018, but there is a new report saying that the future of the franchise is uncertain. More on the story below.

“Hasta la vista…”

Directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World), Terminator Genisys is the fifth film in the Terminator series. It’s also the franchise’s nadir — just in case you thought it couldn’t get any worse than Jonathan Mostow’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) or McG’s Terminator Salvation (2009).

In the year 2029, John Connor (Jason Clarke) leads the human resistance against the machines. Here’s the thing about this franchise that boggles my mind: why do studios and screenwriters insist on making this goddamn series about Future John Connor™?

James Cameron Puts His Seal Of Approval On ‘Terminator Genisys’
eelyajekiM   |

James Cameron in Terminator

Oftentimes when you let go of your franchise creation, subsequent directors lose sight of what made the original films great. Terminator is a great example of that, with director James Cameron giving us two fantastic films, but Rise of the Machines and Salvation — from different directors — failed to live up to expectations. With Terminator Genisys just weeks away from release, Paramount will be making one final marketing push to get moviegoers interested in the upcoming installment.

A new featurette is doing just that, and it is bringing in Cameron to talk about how Genisys is the true sequel to his Terminator 2: Judgment Day. More on this story and the featurette here below.

Arnold Schwarzenegger As The Terminator On The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Live Post-Super Bowl Show (2015)

Just before Sunday night’s Super Bowl, Terminator Genisys star Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a video where he revealed which team he was rooting for by holding up a sign with a metal Terminator robot hand, and during NBC’s live broadcast of the big game, there was a Terminator Genisys TV Spot for the film.

But that wasn’t the end of the night for the former California governor. After the Super Bowl, the actor made his way over to The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon for the special live episode. Right before the first commercial break (after the star-studded a capella version of Queen’s “We Are the Champions), Schwarzenegger made a smokey entrance in his Terminator attire of t-shirt, leather jacket, and dark sunglasses to simply say “We’ll be back.”

There’s no individual clip of the entrance, but the full episode is embedded here below, so skip to around the 30:30-minute mark just before the first ad break to see it. [Update – the individual clip is now online, see it here below.]
