D23 Expo 2017: Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ Live-Action Film
eelyajekiM   |

The Lion King

As far as we know, Disney’s upcoming live-action iteration of The Lion King is in the very early stages of development. So early that they are still adding cast members as we speak. However, with the film expected to hit theaters just before the next D23 Expo, director Jon Favreau was kind enough to stop by this year’s D23 to provide a small sample of his vision for the new Lion King. And if you are a fan of the original film and his live-action take on The Jungle Book, then you will be pleased by the description we have to offer.

How ‘The Lion King’ Ripped Off ‘The Matrix’ (Video)
The Movie God   |

The Lion King Rips Off The Matrix

A new video is making the rounds of a high school student making a PowerPoint presentation in which he argues that Disney ripped off The Matrix in making movies such as The Lion King.

You might already be thinking to yourself “That student is an idiot and most definitely failed their project.” And you would be absolutely right, of course, had it been a real student. The video really comes from an Emerson College comedy group called Chocolate Cake City, as I found out after having watched it thinking the whole time it was notable high school cool kid Clid Samby. The skit is actually presented by Pierce Campion.

You can check out the video below.

This year, Disney’s The Jungle Book continued to prove that their live-action adaptations of their animated films are a success. With Jon Favreau at the helm, the movie went on to gross $965 million worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing film of the year – Disney’s Captain America: Civil War, Zootopia, and Finding Dory are first, second, and third, respectively. Following the announcements of remakes of their other animated features, the studio has confirmed that Favreau will be directing a reimagining of their 1994 animated hit, The Lion King. ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Aladdin’ Broadway Casts Get Stuck At Airport, Have Sing-Off (Video)
The Movie God   |

The Lion King and Aladdin Broadway Cast Sing-Off

No one ever wants to find out that their flight has been delayed, forcing them to figure out different ways to keep their quickly numbing brain occupied until things get back on schedule. So here’s a slice of fried gold life tip for all of you: if you’re going to end up getting stuck at an airport, make sure that Broadway performers are stuck at said airport with you!

The casts of both The Lion King and Aladdin Broadway shows were traveling from New York to Orlando when their flight was delayed. Instead of sitting around playing Sudoku or whatever it is kids do to keep themselves busy these days, they used their talents to lighten the mood in the terminal. Just one Broadway cast singing their songs would be a pleasant surprise for anyone else stuck in an airport (aside from those without souls, of course), but when two casts from different productions are present? It can mean only one thing: a sing-off!

It begins with the Lion King cast singing one of the many familiar songs associated with their production. Instead of countering with another classic tune, the Aladdin crew, led by Tony Award-winning Genie actor James Monroe Iglehart (whose tribute to Genie counterpart Robin Williams can be watched right here), went full rap battle in playful riposte. And it continued from there. You can check out the video of the two sides trading lyrical blows below.
