Ben Affleck Will No Longer Direct Standalone Batman Film
eelyajekiM   |

Ben Affleck as Batman

Ben Affleck, who first starred as Batman as a part of the DCEU in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, and will be in the upcoming Justice League, will no longer be directing the standalone Batman film. The news comes months after the studio first hinted during this summer’s San Diego Comic-Con that the actor would get behind the camera of his own superhero film. That was followed by countless Affleck dodging questions during his junkets for The Accountant and Live By Night. Just a few weeks ago, the actor insisted that he was going to direct the film.

But now comes word that he “cannot do both jobs to the level they require.” His and Warner Bros. statement is below.

‘Man Of Steel’ Is The First Step Into ‘Justice League’ Film
eelyajekiM   |

Man of Steel Header

After being overshadowed by Marvel Studios for some odd years, WB and DC comics are ready to launch their own cinematic universe with Justice League. The problem is that the script written by Will Beal has been scrapped, we don’t know if Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel is the first step into the Justice League movie, and WB is keeping a tight lid on the development of the long-gestating film.

But know WB president Jeff Robinov has revealed that Man of Steel is “definitely a first step” into getting a Justice League movie into development.

In an interview with EW, Robinov said that Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight trilogy is definitely a standalone franchise and has no relation to the Justice League film.

eelyajekiM   |

The Hangover Part III Header

After holding off on months and months of promotions for The Hangover Part III, the WB marketing team has released its second trailer for the film. While we’ve been waiting to hear how this film is unlike the first two, the first trailer didn’t seem to clarify how it would separate itself from its predecessors. So this new trailer gives us a few hints as to how it will do just that.

Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis reprise their respective Wolfpack roles, so check out the latest trailer for the film to find out how this Hangover film is different from the rest.

Cinemumra   |

Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows

Where there’s one sequel, there is likely to be even more. And while Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows hasn’t even hit theaters yet, WB is looking to move forward on a third film in the burgeoning franchise.

Deadline is reporting that WB has tapped Drew Pearce to pen a third film in the franchise, which is interesting, if only for the fact that Pearce is also the man behind the pen for the third film in the Iron Man franchise.

Future Of DC Comics Movies Includes Batman Reboot, Justice League In 2013, Flash, Wonder Woman
The Movie God   |

The LA Times’ Hero Complex was able to chat with Warner Brothers president Jeff Robinov recently, and he was able to share the future of their collaboration with DC Comics and what adaptations of their comic book properties are currently on the way.

The most exciting thing for fans, perhaps, is the reaffirmation of a Justice League movie being in the works. The project, which would see DC’s top heroes joining forces on the big screen (to compete with Marvel’s Avengers, which is set to arrive in 2012) has been talked about for a while, but Robinov says they want it to be ready to go for 2013. If all goes well, we would see Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, and others fighting side-by-side.

DVD Review: The Green Slime
BAADASSSSS!   |

Green SlimeThe Green Slime
DVD Remaster
Directed by Kinji Fukasaku
Starring Robert Horton, Luciana Paluzzi, Richard Jaeckel
Warner Bros Home Entertainment
Release date: October 26, 2010

The year 1968 was quite a time for science-fiction. On television the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise was in the midst of a five-year adventure traveling to strange new worlds under the command of Captain James Tiberius Kirk. Meanwhile on movie screens around the world Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer was launching a bold new vision of the future of its very own with Stanley Kubrick’s long-in-the-works outerspace epic 2001: A Space Odyssey, an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke‘s short story “The Sentinel.” What Star Trek and 2001 represented at a time when the country was neck deep in the bloody apocalypse of Vietnam was a vision of an optimistic future where mankind could sail an endless ocean of stars to places unknown without having to face the threat of flesh-eating monsters on every uncharted world. Some would call such a notion naïve and childish, but both Trek and 2001 made their respective impact on audiences and critics and would go on to become two of the most influential sci-fi entertainments in the history of their mediums.

The same year, MGM also released The Green Slime. Okay then…

‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’ Part 1 Will NOT Be In 3D
The Movie God   |

You know 3D has gone way too far when you stop reporting about a movie getting that extra dimension, and start reporting about a movie who isn’t going to be in 3D. Crazy world we live in, folks.

Warner Brothers has announced that even though they’ve put much effort into getting Part 1 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows converted to 3D in post production, they just don’t have the time to pull it off. The studio had plans to do all of the 3D work in post — a process that has led to very bad results for other films who have attempted it — and still has plans to do it for the second part of their epic two-part finale, but the quality they were seeking was just not possible before the scheduled November 19 release date.
