I don’t normally make a habit out of reviewing or spotlighting every issue in a mini-series, but with this one I cannot seem to help it. Wonder Woman ’77 Meets The Bionic Woman #3 continues to astound me and make me nostalgic for my childhood. Additionally, with March being Women’s History Month, it only seems fitting that we celebrate these iconic characters. Though, to be fair, I plan on celebrating this series each and every month regardless.

‘Wonder Woman’ Trailer: Gal Gadot Puts A Stop To The Wrath Of Evil
eelyajekiM   |

Wonder Woman header photo

After three DCEU films failed to live up to expectations, it’s easy to see why everything about DC’s shared film universe rides on the success of Wonder Woman. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it looks like the film will not disappoint. Of course, the character, played by Gal Gadot, had a little bit of a head start when she appeared alongside Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where she practically stole the show with her heroics.

The title film will be the first major female superhero film to hit theaters, and now Warner Bros. has dropped a new trailer to give us another taste of what is to come. Check it out here below.

Will Harry Potter’s David Thewlis Play Ares In ‘Wonder Woman’?
eelyajekiM   |

David Thewlis to join Wonder Woman

While Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) has been performing her heroic duties in most of the marketing campaign for her upcoming solo film Wonder Woman, there has been no sign of a villain yet. TV spots and trailers seem to indicate that there wouldn’t be a super-powered villain, and the film would just be a battle over the Mother Box McGuffin. However, there is a new rumor that says David Thewlis (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix) will be playing the role of Ares, the Greek god of war. More on the story below.

Last month I reviewed the first issue of this mini-series and found it to be everything I wanted and more and the follow up is no different. Wonder Woman ’77 Meets The Bionic Woman #2 is phenomenal from start to finish. Action packed and full of sly references to that time period and the changes that have occurred since.

This revival of iconic characters from my youth has been extraordinarily hit or miss, but in the case of Wonder Woman ’77 Meets The Bionic Woman #1, it is certainly a home run. I was always a huge fan of Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman, but only occasionally watched The Bionic Woman. Not sure if it was a schedule conflict or what; I remember liking the 1970s Lindsay Wagner show, but just not seeing it often. Now, our friends at Dynamite Entertainment have teamed up with DC Comics to bring us one of the best TV titan team-ups ever!

NYCC 2016 Interview: Jelly Belly Wonder Woman Art By Kristen Cumings
Olympus Athens   |

Jelly Belly Wonder Woman art

Two of the many, many things I love about New York Comic-Con, which held court at the Javits Center in NYC last weekend, are the uniqueness of the activities and the art. When the two are combined, it makes for an even better (and sometimes delicious) surprise. Booth #455 gave passersby free jelly beans (of which my kids ate quite a few). I got a chance to interview jelly bean artist, Kristen Cumings, who is “one of the only people in the world that uses jelly beans as her art form.” So what was up with Jelly Belly?

Jelly Belly has a broad range of movies represented in their collection, including Finding Dory and Star Wars, and their Hero Collection includes entertainment icons like Superman and Wonder Woman. From gift tins and bags to bean machines and magic wands, each movie collection contains a range of products.

Check out my interview with artist Kristen Cumings and the beautiful images in the image gallery here below.

‘Wonder Woman’ & ‘The Flash’: Why We Should Still Have Faith In The DCEU
eelyajekiM   |

DCEU Wonder Woman header image

So far, Warner Bros.’ film entries in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) have come up a bit short of expectations, with both critics and audiences alike disappointed in the studio’s most recent offerings, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.

After these movies were critically panned and audiences were less than thrilled, fans and those involved in the filmmaking process were quick to defend the respective films citing that they wasn’t made for critics. An easy argument to make, especially when films like these get completely railroaded by critics. To be fair, the two did make a decent amount of cash at the box office, but they both also saw huge drops in their respective second week — Batman v Superman fell 69% in its second week, just a few percentage points more than Suicide Squad‘s 67%.

Director Patty Jenkins Responds To Claim That ‘Wonder Woman’ Is A Mess
eelyajekiM   |

Wonder Woman Header Image

In the past few weeks, Warner Bros.’ DCEU has been receiving a wave of negative publicity fueled by the widespread critical panning of both Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Even before their respective releases, reports coming out did not cast a good reflection on the DCEU or its future. These reports ranged from multiple writers signing on for competing scripts to studio interfering with the Suicide Squad editing process. Recently, an “open letter” written by an ‘angry” former WB employee who wrote under the name “Gracie Law” to WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara said Wonder Woman is a mess, and that the studio was trying to hide it “behind the great trailer.”

But a lot of these criticisms don’t come without their counter arguments, as we have seen from the cast of Suicide Squad and now Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins, who is responding to that open letter that claims Wonder Woman is “a mess.” More on the story below.
